can you explain to a brainlet how you can make money from this
so some whale dumped his MATI into an illiquid orderbook, to trigger stoplosses which then dump the price even further? How does the whale profit from this? Unless he buys the bottom, which implies that he expects the price to recover?

I couldn't even understand him to tell he was complaining about a stop triggering.

Not much different than stocks, especially since they don't trade on the weekends, a stock could easily gap well below your stop.

Its not just liquidity, but people put way to much confidence in stop loss orders.

Slippage is definitely a motherfucker. Many a trader has to learn that the hard way.

I looked at MATICBTC for the first time today, and I see the 1d 50 SMA and 1d 200 SMA get some respect. A few days after its 1d 200 SMA came into existence, its first ever golden cross happened, and it pumped like only a scamcoin can back in November 2019. The bulls are protecting the 200 SMA too.

Some more MATIC TA from a good alt trader:

Exchange owners and other parties privy to the data can see exactly where stop losses are and what amounts. If there are large groupings of stop losses at certain prices they will then calculate how low the price will sink from triggering them based on the depth of the orderbook. They then place buy orders around their calculated price and trigger the stops, collecting the coins. Price will relatively quickly return to the mean. This is one reason why you don’t day trade these crypto markets.

>This is one reason why you don’t day trade these crypto markets.
It can definitely be more dangerous to trade the lower timeframes. Also, in the long run, higher timeframe setups (1d or greater) get big profits in the long run. Even people who prefer the faster pace of day trading should have some slow positions too. It's way less stress for a lot of money. You can trade the 1d chart even if you're wage cucking, because you only have to look at the chart once a day and make a decision, and often that decision is to do nothing. Just don't be a pussy when it comes time to take action though.

calls are derivatives in options trading, "the right but not obligation to buy X at the price of Y (expires on Z)".
Margin calls then are (probably, I don't actually know) are calls when the strike price (Y) is equal to the price of X at the time - right on the margin, any lower would be a loss
