you couldn't rebuild structures once they were destroyed in renegade. if i remember correctly a big problem was stalemates in multiplayer where nothing happened for a long time, until either the timer ran out or one team finally got a building and then it was impossible to come back for the other team. the penalty was just too big from losing a single building.
