Don't know how old you guys are, but for all the young bucks on here who see $$$ when they look at crypto and all this option/margin shit the autists on Wallstreetbets are doing...that shit is largely gambling. For every over night millionaire you see, there are 1000 guys who get cleaned the fuck out. I know young people think that it'll never happen to them and that they're somehow smarter and specialer than the rest, but for the love of god protect yourselves. I'm old enough to have seen quite a few cases of tulip mania where people got their faces ripped off, to the point of suicide.

I know most of you guys won't listen and think I'm just some dumb boomer who doesn't "get it" but I've lived this nightmare. I have nothing to gain by FUDing and I honestly hope we all make it, but I know what it feels like to wake up and see major losses. Just be careful bros.

99.9% Bitcoin.
.1% fiat to pay for checking/savings account (((monthly maintenance)))

unironically you may be a boomer who doesn't get it, but likely not a dumb one. experiencing those events has made you unwilling to take another stab. crypto may be a game changer, but really only bitcoin and ethereum. the others will largely disappear when privacy and scaling hits BTC.

23 years old

the way i see it, its extremely high reward with moderate risk
lets say that crypto goes to literally 0 and i lose all ~$60k i have in crypto

what happens then? i work for the next 40 years, basically just like every other person on this planet
now lets say crypto doesn't go to 0, but instead i "make it", then i retire by 30.

the counter argument here is what? if i invested that $60k into a roth or something i could retire like 3-5 years earlier than 60?
idk anon, if my choices are:
retire at 60 if crypto is shit
retire at 55 if i withdraw everything from crypto right now and put into index funds
retire at 30 if crypto is good

ill take the chance that i retire at 30 if i make it. im okay with retiring at 60 like everyone else if my crypto goes to 0.
what i am not okay with if withdrawing everything right now to retire just a few years sooner. FUCK THAT.

This, I foolishly lost 10k on the stock market. Had I reversed all my options I'd be up like 20k+.

This anon also has a point. It's what I was about to do with BTC, ETH, and, LTC back in 2017. Only had a few years of working and if I lost it whatever as I'd still be stuck wagecucking. But Coinbase froze my account with a lot of my money in it. This was AFTER the KYC was done. They claimed they couldn't identify me after the KYC was done succesfully (wtf) and literally prevented me from cashing out my USD. Probably would've prevented me from buying any crypto. Took over a month with government intervention (they kept going in circles) for me to be able to pull out. My experience was soured so I gtfo'ed. To think I almost went all in on BTC at about $2,500 - $3,500 with $20,000. Really pisses me off mainly cause they froze my account.

good advice, but useless given the audience here. most people learn from experience.

i lost 70% of my crypto gains in the last alt-season basically over-night. since then i have a strict portfolio allocation that i rebalance religiously once a month.
