How long will this Corona bear market last?

It seems like even if things don't get very bad with the virus, the fact that China's businesses are losing a ton of money because of it, the fact that international travel to and from China has slowed to a crawl, that tourists aren't being allowed into other countries, that even goods from China are being delayed and in some cases not accepted because of this.

It could potentially last months. Think about how long it will take to basically eradicate the virus, and as long as people are still spreading it / getting sick, there is potential it keeps spreading. You basically have to wait for a vaccine or some other form of eradication since it's a highly contagious virus to get back to normal trade, normal air travel, etc. So, I don't think this is anywhere near over.

This could go on for months. I think we will see a rebound in the markets monday, but the back and forth will continue over the next months as the virus is slow to eradicate and people keep getting sick / dying, even if it's not even more than a few hundred / thousand people that die total. The fears and panic of it spreading and becoming a pandemic will really negatively impact the market, even though it's mostly overblown.

As long as it doesn't start spreading rapidly in the west though I see a quick recovery, so I wouldn't advise buying this as I don't think it's a dip yet even if there's a slight recovery in the next few days, I think more bad news about travel and trade will continue and it will keep shocking the market into selloffs.

We will see a strong relief rally from this for sure, when containment becomes clear and we get good news about companies like Apple/Starbucks reopening stores. However I think it's important to note that the underlying economy (everywhere, not just China) is extremely weak. All the signs like PMIs, home sales, freight, debt spreads, etc. have been absolutely dismal even before this started. France and Italy now officially in contraction, Germany teetering on the edge, US pivoting and going back to ZIRP. A strong growing economy might be able to absorb this, like the markets did with SARS in 2003.
