Also note that they opened token sales without even having a white-paper. They were pushed to do one, delaying the sale, and it was a shoddy mess of a whitepaper on release. They just pushed as quick as possible for sale no matter what.

The white paper part is partially true.
If I remember correctly, they pushed out a “white paper rough draft” so to speak during the ICO. This is most likely because they were trying to get the ICO out during the crazy 2017 hype when every erc20 under the sun was exploding.
A month later they released the white paper we know and love today.
