>be me
>study Computer Science, 4th semester
>Apply for an internship (am supposed to do one)
>Interviewer starts asking questions
>Oh so you are not super well informed about this area?
>What, you haven't done that yet on yourself at home or in your free time?
>Oh, you don't have any coding projects outside of univerisity?
>So you basically only know what you learned in university?
>Well, sorry, that doesn't work out man.

Meanwhile I know a girl who completed an intership there very recently. She didn't even pass her coding classes yet. Let alone has she done anything on her own in her free time, apart from drinking and partying

Anons I feel so fucking down. Is this a joke? Could they smell that I am a retard? I am currently thinking about either killing myself or dropping out. I feel so fucking down.
If I am supposed to know everything already, why should I even do an internship then? This doesn't make any sense.

it's because she sucked his dick. she will document this and then 20 years down the road charge him with abuse ' he pressured me otherwise i would not get the job and it was a really nice job so i had no choice' . friendly reminder that all women are whores

Yeah. But she has definetly not more know how than I do. It was for the same fucking position, and she got in last minute, because she couldn't do an internship at the other company.
>>16967481
Thanks anon for the heads up. I just feel so devastated right know. A 'no' would have been okay. But knowing that the other girl got in makes me doubt myself so much. Maybe I am just an absolute retard. They literally asked me if I ever wrote a long text, and explained that there is a lot of stuff to document (I know that 50% is documentation).
Like what the fuck? I study comp Science and they think I am too retarded to write some documentation?

When it comes to Internships and entry-level positions in general, it all comes down to likability. Most companies don't expect you to come into an internship with experience under your belt, they know that you don't know shit, that's why you're there. Your best bet is to work on speaking eloquently on what you've learned in class so far, and demonstrating you're mature and manage your time well. Display an aptitude for learning new things and learning them quickly. Go to job fairs and networking events and practice shaking off your social autism. Learn how to sell yourself better. Good luck anon, if you want to land job ez out of college I recommend satisfying these 3 pillars on resume:
>3.5GPA or greater
>Internship
>Some extra curricular bullshit (honor society, professional association, hackathons etc.)

t.22 and work for a consulting firm/tech start-up.

>This doesn't make any sense.
That's actually the first step. It /does/ make sense. It all makes sense. The adage, "It doesn't matter what you know, it's who you know." is the most true thing ever.
Makes me laugh hard as shit whenever some fuckhead comes in more or less screaming
>but I got this degree!
Yeah? Great. Are you telling me you're the one magical soul that could ever get that degree? You telling me that if I were to go back to school right now, you believe I would just be too mentally feeble to earn it, too?
Now that you've learned your degree is effectively useless, go make some connections like she has.
>Drinking and partying
Those are all probably going to be members of the community, officials, business owners etc someday. Meanwhile you're posting on a shrimp farming board wondering why sitting at home POSTING ON A SHRIMP FARMING BOARD hasn't worked out for you.
Protip: you can still go to parties and not drink. You can still go to bars and get non-alcoholic cocktails. No one actually judges you as much as you think they do, and if you own up to who you are, people will respect you for it.
gl idiot.

As I'm typing out my comment, there's this little gold nugget. To reiterate again, op thinks they're being righteous or something by avoiding a complex onslaught of social interaction, when in reality they're more versed in pepe memes instead of what his peers think about the world.

you're a man. they only hire men to do the work, not fill the quota or gawk at sexually for relief. if you can't carry your whole department or project you're not worth as much in the male role. what you need to do is study a specific field of CS and apply to jobs or internships that you already know the ins and outs of. sorry to break it to you, but college degrees for CS are mostly a meme (as are most degrees). they should be a supplement to what you already are working with so you have a bigger general picture or as good goy points to climb the corporate ladder. create projects to fill in your portfolio that come from within you and your understanding. these are what will impress. in the world we have many people who train to follow something that someone's already carved the path for, this isn't worth much when the market is over saturated with clowns who can follow directions but nothing else. what makes this a lucrative field is your self direction and logical understanding of complex code and systems. you'll get an internship if you keep applying, but what's important here is that you develop your ability to understand and create on the platform. when it comes time to make the beaucoup bucks you must be able to do everything from the get go unless you are extremely lucky with oppurtunity, but that's mostly reserved for the minority and women

Thank you anon.
Sadly I found this out too late.
Would have been nice to know this from the beginning.
At this point it just seems to me like you said it. The degree is absolutely worthless. If I would have spent the last two years educating myself in a specific area and would have just printed out a certificate, I would have been off way better.
Realizing this sucks. Not because I don't have it now. But because I seemingly fucking wasted the last two years of my life and it feels like I got scammed hard

focus on your projects and ability. finish out your degree 2 years as an associates. you can always go back to school. what are your goals and dreams in the field? the world is unfair, don't let it get you down much, because when the tables are turned you'll be happy with what you've got if you play your cards right. a lot more than most people. where do you want to live, do you want to work remotely, do you want to work with others, do you want to code? IT? ultimately it's not about the degree or even certification. if you have the ability and demonstrate it your company (if you choose to work for a company not as a contracted employee) they will pay for your education and certs. contracted work means they are hiring you to do something specific, you're going to want to be able to confidently deliver the product 100% in this scenario. startups is just meme speak for investors who are looking to create a team to develop something new. either the investor is a dev or thinker, or it's a large investment in which case they will want you to know your shit real well, be able to show your proof that you understand the field and scope of the project

Women often get better treatment due to them being less intelligent but more attractive. Don't beat yourself up over it anon. If you were the hiring person for a low tier job, would you hire a cute female or an average male?

If you feel that you were discriminated against due to your sex get a jew lawyer and sue them.

yeah maybe you should give up with that attitude. we already have enough "software developers" like your female friend bloating the industry. Or you could grow a fuckin pair and actually strive to be successful. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Getting past an interview is mostly about appearing likeable. I'm as autistic as anyone else here and I can fake it for 45 minutes.
You basically have to do the things you know normies do, that make you uncomfortable. Make silly jokes and comment on the weather. Ignore the embarrassment.

The truth is that an entry level role will generally not require any real ability. They could hire anyone with your general background and it's a crapshoot as to whether they'd be good at the job or not, so it comes down to whether they like you or not.

90% of women your age (assuming early 20s) are going to be more interesting than you, because you're probably being interviewed by a man, men like being around pretty women and most women in their early 20s are pretty.

The upside of this is that you probably don't need to prepare for interviews as much as you think. You don't need to know more about the company or role than you can get in the first paragraph of Wikipedia and the job description. You just have to seem interested (i.e. ask some non-obvious questions).

Part of it is just persistence. Treat it like dating. Have processes on the go with multiple companies at once and keep adding new ones. Maintain a pipeline.

Maybe I am too shy in this regard and should just doing the same chit chat like I do in other social enviroments.
Because I have no problems to connect to people in other social enviroments at all. Get even told sometimes that I'm a cool dude and stuff.
I keep applying, and build some real skillset, apart from the useless shit I learn in university
