Twenty traders will have thirty different perspectives on options and they can be used to trade practically any idea you can think of so it pays to take the redpill. I posted the following as a Gross simplification in a thread or two ago as a mini primer on options as a directional leveraged play:
>Can someone explain options to me? They seem to be like a bet. That a price will go above a certain amount or below?
It's just another way to get some leverage and the price doesn't have to go above the strike price if you sell before expiration you can still make a ton of money.
If you buy a call option you are expecting the price of the underlying stock to go up and if you look at the option's delta you'll see what fraction of a dollar the option's price will go up(down) for every dollar the underlying stock goes up(down). Gamma will tell you how much delta will go up(down) for every dollar the underlying goes up(down).
If you buy an option with a strike price out of the money the leverage increases but the chances of the option expiring with value decreases. The further in the money you go has the opposite effect.
The easiest way to calculate the effective leverage of an option is take the underlying's price, multiply it by the delta then divide that by the price of the option.
For example, SPY call option expiring February 24th with a strike price of 331. SPY is currently $330.59 and the option costs $4.46 with a delta of 0.518. 330.59 times 0.518 is 171.25, divide that by the strike price of 4.46 gives you 38.4x of effective leverage.
The advantage here is super high leverage with no possibility of a margin call. The disadvantage is the closer the option gets to expiration the less it is worth by a factor of theta. And of course if it expires out of the money before you sell it, you end up with nothing.

ONTX; They regained China rights to the drug after they kicked the current china partner to the curb due to the partner not forking up the required green as agreed. So now after the good trial results they can hang this drug over the heads of any china drug company and say "pay up bitch" and watch as the biding war breaks out. This what the rest of the article says:
Why This News Is Exciting

At first glance, this may not seem like great news, but it is. There are a few things to consider here:

Onconova Now Has A Key Territory – The Greater China territory includes mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, representing one of the largest pharmaceutical markets in the world. Since Onconova Therapeutics now has the rights to this territory, once regulatory approval is achieved, the company has the ability to capitalize in a big way.
Other Potential Partnerships – With the license agreement now null, ONTX is free to seek other partnerships for the region. This could lead to an influx of funding should a new licensing agreement be signed.
The Company Is Taking This Very Seriously – Another thing to consider here is that ONTX quickly acted. Ultimately, the company knows that it’s onto something with rigosertib, and is not giving any slack. The fact that the company acted quickly shows that it is taking partnerships seriously and that it plans to aggressively move forward.

There are a few other things to consider here. First and foremost, rigosertib is in Phase 3 development and likely to move into an application with the FDA relatively soon. If all goes well, Onconova Therapeutics could be sitting on a goldmine.

By 2024, experts are suggesting that the leukemia treatment market will be worth more than $17 billion annually. For a company with a market cap of just over $50 million, tapping into such a vast commercial opportunity is huge! This, combined with other potential indications for rigosertib say that the drug could quickly become a blockbuster.

with some fresh unknown outbreak like this, prudence would dictate that they keep the patients for at least a week for monitoring/testing, not just release them the moment they stop coughing blood.

I said yesterday that I'm as bullish as I ever have been about GALT, I'm not frustrated with it
Will repost my post from yesterday
Actually expanding on all of these points and talking about Back Bay and the pathology of liver fibrosis and the tumor microenvironment would require multiple walls of text, which I'm too lazy to type out rn

the main appeal of GALT is the sheer value of the intellectual property, combined with the new management being in a better position to actually realize that potential

>overexpression of galectin-3 has been implicated in a breathtakingly wide variety of diseases (NASH cirrhosis, acute and chronic inflammation, allergic disorders, asthma, dermatitis, autoimmune disease, inflammatory and degenerative arthritis, immune-mediated neurological disease, fibrosis of multiple organs (including but not limited to liver, lung, kidney, pancreas, and heart), inflammatory bowel disease, atherosclerosis, heart failure, ocular inflammatory disease, a large variety of cancers)
>GALT has a unique competitive position in the area of galectin-3 inhibition, with competition being very few, early stage, and having flaws of their own (such as delivery issues with Galecto)
>GALT's drug has shown unique promise in preventing end stage complications of cirrhosis in compensated NASH cirrhosis patients (cirrhotic NASH patients account for the overwhelming majority of clinical costs)
>GALT's previous failures can be attributed to mismanagement and flawed trial designs
>The previous management is gone and the new management includes the backing of a billionaire activist investor who is involved in a personal level in the company's success and owns significant equity in it (Richard Uihlein)
>the adaptive trial they're preparing in compensated cirrhotic NASH is well-designed and will give them many opportunities to prove the efficacy of their drug, and is being conducted in collaboration with renowned KOLs in the area and a leading CRO

Just learn the lesson for next time.
It's mind seem overly routine and simple, but there are rules governing these sorts of behavior.

The 'context' that I'm talking about wasn't "posting a picture of a corona", but the fact that you posted a picture of a can with no glass showing. Because if you're sippin proper, you generally want the picture to show that. A glassless picture of a can leads to all kinds of doubt and uncertainty. Confusion, even.
Having both pieces of the puzzle together in the same picture, the yin and the yang, completeness, it alleviates all fears and doubts.
And when one of your 4chan freinds questions the picture of jsut the can, it's not like I'm insulting you. It's more like "you okay? need me to mail you a glass to enjoy that?". It's that kind of thing :D

I think their NASH-RX trial will start around March (and that if they're planning on going alone for the time being until they can get more data, this will come with the announcement of a new CEO and CMO), and that may be what a buyer has been waiting for before taking things over
It makes sense to want the phase 3 set into motion before they take the company over
If there's not a BO come a few months after the trial starts, then I would assume they couldn't come to an agreement over price with BPs this time around, and a BO will come in 2-3 years after new rounds of data from their NASH and cancer trials

BING BING
From the top of the Schwab news feed, the most important story of the day:
>ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Harry Potter and Hulk: Welcome your new neighbors, Mario and Pokemon. A fourth park at Universal Orlando is being created based on characters from Nintendo, the park's owners announced Thursday.
>After months of being tight-lipped, executives of Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, made the announcement during a question-and-answer part of their earnings call.
>They initially refused to offer details about the new park when it was first announced last August, citing the competitive nature of the Orlando theme park industry. But on Thursday, they let Mario out of the bag.
>The new theme park , slated for a 2023 opening , is part of a larger expansion at Universal Orlando that will double the size of the resort.
>The new park will be located on a 750-acre (304-hectare) site a few miles from the current Universal Orlando property, which is home to the Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure parks, as well as the Volcano Bay water park.
>More than 14,000 workers will be hired on top of Universal's existing 25,000-person labor force in Orlando. They will be paid a starting minimum wage of $15 an hour, officials said.
>The company also has theme parks in California, China, Japan and Singapore. A Nintendo park opens this year in Osaka, Japan, and one will be built in California.
>The new attraction should draw millions of additional visitors to the Universal parks, just as the first Harry Potter attractions did when they debuted a decade ago, the executives said.

Nah TSLA price movement is in it's own little bubble. Sort of. TSLA price growth really helped pump future-tech disruptive growth companies like SPCE and BYND the past couple weeks. But as far as companies that are actually making positive earnings right now, it's not a big deal. But in general, because it's a 'disrupter' class of company, it doesn't really threaten the economy or market at large.
The companies that are "leading" and controlling the market are the FAAMG stocks, the bigg tech companies.

I don’t particularly care about them either way, but it seems like so many people hate them and want them to fail. I just prefer Disney and, if i view them as a streaming play, amazon. People also hate those and want them to fail I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate the merits of AMRN's drug and that by hanging through the ups/downs I ended making a bit of green on it. But now that they are a legit company (FDA approval) the countdown clock on drug exclusivity is ticking. They've got only 10 years to rake in as much Profit as they can. Assuming that some other drug along the same lines don't come out on the market before then also. With that said now that the clock is ticking getting a partnership deal or entertaining the buyout route is the quickest way to start the Profit intake. But here we are almost 1 month into it and nothing is being done. So yeah it kinda makes you wonder. If you had a money making drug you'd be selling the shit outta it as soon as it cleared the FDA hoops. Or hell during the FDA process at least get a partnership deal lined up. This is where ONTX has outdone AMRN; they've got things lined up ready to roll as soon as the FDA gives the ok. Profit is rolling in for them as soon as the FDA gives the green light.

I've still got my LPTX bags from last year, Q2 sometime, someone was shillin it... I bought some SEEL at the same time because someone was shilling it and that's the name of a Pokemon.

Your in the 12% bracket (so am I). At raking in 15k you gotta make over 25k extra before it can fuck you over. This is only if your single. Married (me) combined salaries can't exceed 80k. Which sadly to say ours don't. Which means I can make 24k extra and not get fucked outta my refund or owe the bastards any. Note any Divvy income counts as earned income also even though its reinvested. Now if ONTX should hit $9 a share well, that changes shit. But I won't have to deal with it till 2021 or 2022.

hi /biz/ I like math and economics so I made a graphing utility to answer
>If you start with one share of a dividend-paying stock, how long would it take you to buy another share of stock using just the dividends from that one share of stock?
here it is, initialized to the closing price of SPY and its last dividend value
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/5bijckuu8z

I've labeled the variables so it should be self explanatory. I want to stress that you guys play with variable "b". It represents how many shares of stock you already own in the company.
Here it is initialized to T. https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ylllun7dzy
Notice that, with only 1 share, it takes 9.2 years to earn your second share of stock. But, if you start off with just 2 shares, you've already halved the time to get your next share to 4.6 years. The more shares you own, the less time it takes to compound your dividends.

Smart money knows where this is going,
500 by Christmas 2022.
Spy has broken out of a 20 year channel upwards, while Bitcoin has broken down out of a 7 year channel

Crypto is gonna go down and stay down hard until three things happen that are priced in as of now.

#1. The fed stops printing,QE,Repo work,lowering rates.(orchestrated by Trump)

#2. Trumps 2nd Term is over creating fear and doubt.

#3. The rest of the world's wonderlust for Trump's economic policies, plus the rest of the world going to shit will cause a mass inflow of cash into the US.

Tired of losing money with tranny's and crypto?
Come to the light side and buy some spy options calls for Christmas expiry.

With options you can make
.5-4x gains daily instead of waiting for crypto to pop.

Have you tried to search google.com for "covered puts" to try and find the answer to your question?

The way that puts are "covered" is by short-selling shares of stock instead of owning shares.
If you own shares and sell puts, those puts are still "naked" because they represent an obligation to buy if you get exercised on.

Electro is way better for driving within a city and its outskirts.
But for long distance travel (e.g. trucks), EV just doesnt have the power.
Also for goods delivery you usally have very active nodes where goods have to flow, so you can build a hydrogen infrastructure there.

Both have very different use cases.

Hey guys. This stock market run is not unprecedented but has historical benchmarks behind it. People are hedging, institutions are hedging, people are selling. Well, honestly, barring some major black swan, these short bets are going to be covering over the next week or two, and those who sold too early will fomo back in. This will have the effect of pushing the market even higher. That is, unless I'm wrong.

Needs more memes. Why would you hold facebook or amazon over proper, smg approved growth companies? For example, refr is hardly a gamble, you could easily get more stake and basically keep your risk the same, but increase reward

Stock has a PT of 4.5 dollars, just broke key resistance of 3 dollars and if you get it now it’ll be before retail plays the swing. Perceptive has 6 million shares and the ADCOM voted 14-1 in favor of a contraceptive patch Twirla that delivers a smaller dose of estrogen than it’s competition. Also the CEO has gotten the three previous biotechs he was at bought out.
