Guan Yi: Evaluating a measure depends on the time and effect. At this point, I feel that the golden prevention and control period has been missed. I am not optimistic about the effect. First of all, the spring festival tide is almost over. The rushing crowd out of the city may be mobile viruses. In addition, those who have left the city will not or do not understand how to isolate themselves. I don't think the local government has done anything, and even a quarantine guide has not been given to those who have left the city.

Wuhan pneumonia country has issued documents to take measures for the prevention and control of Class A infectious diseases, but from my personal observation and investigation, Wuhan was still an undefended city.

Caixin Reporter: How to determine the trend of the next epidemic?

Guan Yi: The outbreak is certain. "Wuhan through the nine provinces", coupled with missed the period of gold prevention and control, and the tide of the Spring Festival, some people do nothing.

I have also counted hundreds of battles and experienced bird flu, SARS, H5N1, swine fever and so on. But for this pneumonia in Wuhan, I really feel extremely weak. There is simply no comparison with the SARS epidemic. At that time, SARS first developed in several cities in the Pearl River Delta, followed by Beijing and Hong Kong.

60% -70% of the SARS infected people are from individual super communicators, and the transmission chain is very clear, as long as the contacts of those people are blocked. But this time, the source of transmission has been fully spread, and epidemiological investigations are no longer possible. And to control costs, you should use a geometric digital meter.

It is conservatively estimated that the scale of the infection is 10 times higher than that of SARS. I've experienced so much, I've never felt scared, most of them are controllable, but this time I'm scared

options are loans to purchase contracts or a large amount of shares.
Options come with interest based on the amount, and depending on the stock you need to have a certain amount of liquid in your account to be able to purhase with options, usually 9%.
If it's a newer stock it will be listed as a special security, and it will require a higher than average cash amount avaiable on the account for the initial purchase(the total purcase not share price).

Yeah, calls are a bet that they will go above x, and puts is the other way. If you pay 5 bucks and they expire below your prediction, you lose everything. If they expire when the stock is like 3 bucks above your predictions you lose most of your money. If it's 10 bucks above you make twice your investment. If you sell before expiry shit can be more complicated.

>Can someone explain options to me? They seem to be like a bet. That a price will go above a certain amount or below?
It's just another way to get some leverage and the price doesn't have to go above the strike price if you sell before expiration you can still make a ton of money.
If you buy a call option you are expecting the price of the option to go up and if you look at the option's delta you'll see what fraction of a dollar the option's price will go up(down) for every dollar the underlying stock goes up(down). Gamma will tell you how much delta will go up(down) for every dollar the underlying goes up(down).
If you buy an option with a strike price out of the money the leverage increases but the chances of the option expiring with value decreases. The further in the money you go has the opposite effect.
The easiest way to calculate the effective leverage of an option is take the underlying's price, multiply it by the delta then divide that by the price of the option.
For example, SPY call option expiring February 24th with a strike price of 331. SPY is currently $330.59 and the option costs $4.46 with a delta of 0.518. 330.59 times 0.518 is 171.25, divide that by the strike price of 4.46 gives you 38.4x of effective leverage.
The advantage here is super high leverage with no possibility of a margin call. The disadvantage is the closer the option gets to expiration the less it is worth by a factor of theta. And of course if it expires out of the money before you sell it, you end up with nothing.

>Can good options traders make money consistently? Or atleast more than they lose?
You will find an internet full of bad information, shitty strategies, and misunderstandings brought on by rank innumeracy if you start Googling about options. In contrast, I'd suggest taking the simplest approach you can at first. I'm a price action trader thriving on reversions and my approach to options is exactly the same. I base my buys and sells on the underlying and I only trade options on the indexes so I don't have to worry about things like earnings reports or other shenanigans individual companies go through. Look at options as fundamental a means to get added leverage and trade the option as you would trade the underlying. If you see a good entry on your stock/index of choice, buy the option. Exit your option as you would exit your regular trade the difference being you make a lot more if it goes your way and you can only lose the price of the option itself. This is of course a simplification but as you get practice you'll be able to fill in the blanks yourself. That's worth a thousand youtube videos and blog posts of bs

Because its about how many people get it then die and its long incubation time. You could be a carrier and not have known it and travelled spreading it somewhere else. It has only just begun. China isn't shutting down their their provinces because of 500 cases there is serious fear and they need people wearing masks and stopping this outbreak while they prepare for a vaccine. The mortality rate is low but if 10 million people have it at mortality rate of 6% it is 600000 dead and it floods hospitals and likely causes other problems so it probably goes up and triggers and economic slowdown.

this guy (been living in China for a long time) explains how the chinese government have tried to downplay the virus and basically pretend that nothing is happening. thanks to that the virus has spread much, much further and faster than if they had taken this shit seriously.

basically they instructed hospitals to not tell infected that they were infected, just told them to stay at home. so many people went out because they didn't understand the seriousness of the illness they were infected by.

common meat markets are a common place for diseases to spread and because nobody were being told about how serious things are right now it was business as usual, spreading disease as usual

also there was some kind of "community banquet" a stone's throw from where the outbreak happened. the government allowed it to carry out as normal where people ate from the same platters, blissfully unaware of the disease

plus right now people are traveling for the chinese new year, which makes infected carry the virus very far through big crowds

Only places like america or japan do they celebrate the holiday that day and work the days around it.
I can't say anything about the reports, i'm not chinese, but this disease seems to be far wrose than sars.
Sars killed about 10% of infected population, 8,098 were infected worldwide, and 774 people were confirmed killed by it.
If this thing infects into the double digits, the potential is there.
>>16959769
Just the density of people alone is enough to spread this disease.
Thing is nobody knows the immunity per race of this, i think europeans had higher resistance to SARS than chinese did.

"Charles Roberson

No. No it's our plan to - one of the things that we're - one of the headwinds we are encountering there is, Chinese nationalism. We've always built our products as a premium and as a U.S. company. So we are adjusting to that.

Our products are as Chinese as any Chinese product that’s made from their Chinese raw materials by Chinese people in Chinese plants. So, we are now repositioning our product line as a Chinese product line."

I also already read that they cut their prices in china last q i suspect that was reversed as the demand went up. I think the demand has surged with train staff airplane staff nurses ect all needing this shit. Keep in mind this shit is all disposable. I think Lakeland is the play here still.

RRSP gets around the TFSA business restriction if your that concerned. Further, if your trading US equities the US recognized Canadian RRSP and doesn't take withholdings tax until capital is withdrawn. Whereas US doesn't recognize TFSA and takes withholdings tax on capital gains and dividends. So, you should be trading US equity in an RRSP.

You’re supposed to inverse baggie. He has been sent from the future to show us what trades to avoid and what not to do. Ding ding ding! How did everyone do today? I'm up .42%, decent day, gween across the board. Even managed so sell some covvies for tomorrow, albeit at unimpressive preemy.
Was watching Sven Carlin vids at 4:00am last night (particularly the Ray Dalio one) and had an ecstatic vision of the future. There will be some kind of crisis (probably kicked off by a spike in unemployment or some EU bullshit), the fed will cut rates hot n heavy, market will dip a little, and the Trump administration will demand massive printy of money to keep indices high. This will work, SPX will hit 4k before 2024, maybe 5k, but inflation will be too high. It will pay to be long right now on slight leverage, conservatively bullish. China will do okay but not great and will experience capital flight to Singapore (and HK). The semi-fascist vision of Lee Kuan Yew will shore up the island nation against any and all troubles, a titanic black monolith will rise out of the ground. A big sign on it will say "Athanor", and at the top will be a weird homosexual German billionaire who'll tell me secrets while a giant protest rages down below. Thank you for listening, this is the prophecy.

Sure, but tobacco isnt going to just go away because of that. There's still money to be made in an addictive product that's cheap to make. There's also the "safer" alternatives like chewing tobacco, vapes, JUUL and JUUL knock-offs. Coming out of Uni, and as a smoker, I can tell you for a fact not many kids 18-23 care how bad for you this shit is as long as it gives you that nicotine buzz.

Crabbed until IIPR announced dilution. Wonder why they need all that money when they're still paying great dividends.

Why aren't you in TRIL?
>superior to FSTV drug which is staying at 2b~ marketcap
>TRIL has around 200m fully diluted marketcap, so it will catch to FSTV eventually
>just did an offering of $100m, cash rich until 2022

It's true. Smoking has steadily gone down over the past 2 decades. However, ask yourself if you can see cigs ever being eliminated? It's one of the worlds most addictive substances, and when it has you, often it's for life. Further, they own 1/3rd of juul and taking chunks out of the marijuana industry. MO will consume its competitors, Weed and vaping-- the goliath aberration will continue feast on the mind and bodies of the indulgent and of the dissolute until the end. Also, sin stocks soar during recession. smokes and booze are hedges against a flourishing economy.

>JUUL is getting fucked by regulation
The baccy giants will be the only ones to survive regulation. They're in good with old Mitch. And they have the scale. Though I am curious to see the impact iQos will have.

That wasn't the point, the point was that CRON has a large corporation with experience navigating regulation and selling consumer packaged smoking products backing them.

I know. I was also implying I dont know much about CRON. Some guys here reccomended it but its one of the several companies I have not yet looked into.

Honestly, most balance sheets of these companies just give you depression.

Yah I wish he focused on more relevant macro stuff more often rather than droning on about the yields of tiny russian gold miners and nonsense foreign REITs. He said he has a vid coming up on HK stocks, that sounds a lot more interesting! For some reason he has a look in his eyes that makes me trust him, and the fact that he's 100% open about his port is cool.

Weekly for stocks that allow it, monthly if I have to. I like to keep my sells nimble in case something goes different than I expect but that might not be the best approach for maximum profit.

It only infects asians, similar to how aids only infects homosexuals, so as long as you're not asian you're fine. If you are asian you're on 4chan so you probably don't go outside and you're still fine. It's literally nothing.
