Because of how it spread internationally and across provinces. The number of international cases can be used to deduce the number of cases in wuhan by travel odds.

With the 4-5 international cases it was approximately 1700 cases

>> No.16942313

But some researchers think that number is a huge underestimation. By running a statistical analysis and extrapolating from the presence of overseas cases, a report published last week by Imperial College London’s infectious disease research center estimated that the number of infections in Wuhan should be in the range of some 1,700 cases—more than eight times the current reported total of 198 cases in the city.
https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mrc-global-infectious-disease-analysis/news--wuhan-coronavirus/

Summary
We estimate that a total of 1,723 cases of 2019-nCoV in Wuhan City (95% CI: 427 – 4,471) had onset of symptoms by 12th January 2020 (the last reported onset date of any case).

The hospital pressured the family to immediately cremate Huang’s mother, but they refused, asking for more information. A few days later, they relented and workers from a funeral home, also in protective clothing, retrieved, cremated and buried her within a few hours, leaving the family no time to say goodbye. Afterwards, the staff disinfected the van they had travelled in and threw away their hamzat suits.

“My mother’s death was dealt with without any dignity,” said Huang, 40, who did not want to give his or his mother’s full name. “She wasn’t even counted as a number on the government’s list,” he said, referring to the six people authorities say have been killed by the virus.
They are supposedly force-cremating any deaths to pneumonia and refusing to test for the novel coronavirus

That's not really something you can openly discuss on Chinese net. But there are some posts complaining that their families are being treated like they have this new disease yet they are not being tested to verify and is not on the official stat list.
>is there any fear/panic or no (if you remember things like SARS, how does this compare?)?
There are some worry and fear building up, probably similar to Dec2002/Jan2003 stage back then although there are a bit more information this time, but a lot of people especially elderly still haven't caught up with the news yet.

The Doughnut Hole Pandemic of 2020 created a mass die off within 300km of the geographic center of infection in China that took place over the months of January - March, 2020. The ensuing devastation rocked the world financial markets. Over the months of April - August of 2020, fleeing Han ethnic majority Chinese infect over 80% of the world's population. Economic activity collapses around the world. By end of 2020, survivors face famine in the coming year. It is a grim story, perhaps. But it is your future.

If you got 30k and think Uber is going to go up you buy atm so if it goes down a little bit your entire bankroll doesn't get wiped like it would buying out of the money. It's less volatile and more like buying the actual stock just with more leverage.

I've started a meme portfolio of only things I've seen on /SMG. My goal, 5%, every single day. So far the fund consists of:
> 900 shares on ONTX
> 225 shares of FCEL
> 100 shares of WKHS(This one is a personal 10 year hold.)
I'm considering today the start of the fund as it's when I got into FCEL late because I woke up at 10:20, but watched the chart and got the dip at 2.72. In total, the fund is up 6.86% for the day. Planning on holding for the next few days as I see FCEL running hard enough to cover further potential losses from ONTX.

Real question, would anyone be interested in me continually posting the results of my /SMG fund? 5% is ambitious, but possible. My goal is to ultimately prove one can make money here.

Not sure about IB but one of the easiest entries to pre and post market trading is Webull. You can trade from 4AM to 8PM eastern time. That's a full 16 hours a day. Not everything trades the whole time, especially ETFs, but a lot does. If you're worried about volume and slippage just use limit orders. Of course you always do that anyway, right?

Only futures traders and people with access to all after hours stock trading were able to take advantage so it pays to have a broker with that even if it isn't your main

>what's the deal with SOXL?
I'm glad you asked; here's some pasta I made a while back that sums my thoughts up and I'll have a look at SNSS
SOXL is the answer. Face it. Semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, the list is endless. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, demand requires bigger, faster, cheaper, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender, asshole virginity or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: semiconductor.
SOXL couples a single ETF entry point with the the best companies the space has to offer then pushes these already stellar returns to the limit with 3x leverage. With SOXL your economic interests are aligned with powerhouses Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. Real tech companies with innovative products people want, not """tech""" """companies""" pushing shitty ads. And like all leveraged ETFs, SOXL is rebalanced daily, deftly mitigating margin risks.
In the last 7 years, SOXL has exploded over 55x yet still we are early. Semiconductor growth will proceed exponentially until every viable space is saturated with it. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and obviously compelling outcomes make it so. The injection of increasingly compact and efficient sensors, microcontrollers, information processing and storage into everywhere and everything will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXL holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for the "pullback". Where we're going, fretting over a few dollars is meaningless. The deliberation is over; waiting is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

https://www.ampfutures.com/ is my main supplier. Lowest commissions (78 cents per contract on the micros which works out to 0.000049% when trading the S&P), lowest margin requirements (though I'd recommend being careful with this), decent customer service, and quick application process. I use Amp and I'm happy.
As far as futures in general, 24/5 trading, no wash sales rule, no pattern day trader bullshit, easy short and long with whatever leverage you want, very favorable tax treatment 60% long term/40% short term capital gains on your end of year profits, i.e., no keeping track of each trade. Filling out your taxes is easier than a 1040. Futures has ridiculous volume too so if you're profitable with small money you can scale up directly to million dollar trades.

You never jump from stock to stock wondering what is the big thing. You might as well play roulette and bet on black at that point or gamble on blackjack at casinos

I followed MNKD and made $50k off $5k options in 2014, moved that money into AMRN from 2015-Q3 2018 and AMRN went crazy, now moved that money into REFR

Timing is everything friend. REFR was $30/pps 20 years ago. SPD SmartGlass was not profitable to produce 20 years ago however. The technology was in infancy.

This tech is already in Mercedes and McLaren cars, and 30 OEM's are planned in the next 18 months that have yet to been announced. Timing is everything.

Watch this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0pFunT3Ez4

>>16946580

Again, timing is everything. If you bought this stock for $30 in 2000, yes, you have been royally fucked and been an ultimate bagholder. However, why would you not buy at a 30 year low when the stock reported a -0.01 cent loss per share down from -0.03 cents the quarter previous?

You can of course wait till the company turns a profit within this year, but stock will probably be $10 a share at that point.

Timing. Is everything. I suggest watching the video I linked for anon above.

They’ve dumbed down their tabletops in a radical manner to make the core rules 10ish pages instead of 250, made the games super accessible, rebooted fantasy as a completely different !Not-40k game complete with fantasy space marines, and pile this all on top of excellent marketing and they’ve been selling like fucking hot cakes. The original release of Age of Sigmar was so fucking atrocious EVERYONE hated it, but they’ve been fixing it for years and now it’s universally praised (except by me fuck you GW for killing my rank and flank autism game)
Vidya definitely gave it a nice kick, but is absolutely not the primary reason for the explosion in popularity. Accessibility and marketing is why.
