I have 14k LINKs stored on Coinbase and 5k LINKs stored on Binance(planning to move them to Coinbase). I just feel safer this way. The only way I lose my linkies is if Coinbase gets hacked and they won't refund which means a big ass fucken dump on the whole crypto market and the CEO of Coinbase going around looking over his shoulder every 30 seconds. Plus nowadays trying to sell your hacked crypto is almost impossible since the addresses get blacklisted. No exchange will accept hacked crypto. The crypto space is big and exchanges like Coinbase have big security implemented. Plus they are also insured up to $250k I think.

It’s already happened. Minus newborns who will mature, everyone who is able to store their own keys already is. What you have to realise is that crypto for its intended uses has peaked. Next comes crypto working in the background, people using it without even knowing. The vast majority of people just aren’t capable of securing their net worths with hardware and software, these people want banks and laws, they want someone else to blame for something and the governments to take care of everything and that’s fine, at least they’re not pretending they can deal with more than they can understand.

For your main wallet you always have to assume that your device can be compromised.
So, just use qubes with full disk encryption.
Backup your wallet inside a truecrypt partition and store it in 20 different sdcard, then hide it in the most crazy places.
For daily use, you can just use your iPhone, just keep a small amount on it, so if something happen is not the end of the world
