Of course new deposits might increase supply a further 10-20 years but that’s assuming we find new deposits. As you know exploration costs are more expensive now then they were 20 years ago and the rich are hoarding money and less likely to invest in exploration which might yield no real gains. Stack now, you have 10 years before SHTF.

will current extraction rates be able to keep up with increasing demand?

It depends. It looks like industrial use of silver will be increasing year-over-year and by the early 2030’s there will be a ton of demand and extraction rates might increase thus the exhustion date might also be closer than 2040 but then again we might find new silver/gold deposits. I think by 2050 there won’t be any gold or silver that’s mineable. The entire supply will be scrap/recycled.

I can already picture the crack heads ripping apart truck loads of old computer and tv parts looking for tiny bits of silver and gold.

Trillions of tons of space mining comes online soon. Game over silver stackers.

space mining what exactly? aint no asteroids close enough, the moon maybe? then what? mars? 10 year round trip not factoring in the actual mining and processing

By 2040 we will have the technology to mine asteroids, don't worry.

The moon is mostly silicate minerals anyway: current thinking is that it was split off of the earth early in the solar system’s formation due to an impact essentially enriching the earth in heavier elements in the process

Shit why not, if it's profitable enough. They already do it with copper.
