Did you know?

Tesla has exclusive direct-sales ability in multiple states due to being grandfathered in after legislative changes.

This means Tesla is the only direct-to-consumer operator and they have a hard to break monopoly.

For instance in New York they have 5 stores and are allowed direct-to-consumer sales without a dealership. No one else can do so due to a law change in 2014.

Cuomo on Friday said New York’s auto dealers have agreed to let Musk’s electric car company, Tesla Motors, keep its direct-selling stores open.

The deal was approved Thursday by both Tesla and several auto dealership groups across the state, sources said.

The agreement bans direct sales in New York but grandfathers in Tesla’s five existing stores.

What's interesting about Dealership vs non-dealership?

Dealerships add 6-8% cost to vehicle
Dealerships profit mainly through maintenance and part sales.
Dealerships are facing margin pressure on the profit of new car sales.
Dealerships have been found through studies to anti-sale Electric Vehicles, possibly because of low margin and less maintenance/parts.

This means those companies operating through dealerships have an enormous friction to going EV and selling EV.

It's important to understand that Tesla Competition must:

Go EV/non ICE

but also must:

Blow up their own dealership model

It's important to understand that both of these changes are necessary. In addition to going OTA upgrades and improving software/sensors/data mining for autonomy.

This means even if you wanted to bet on traditional automakers you'd do it through modification companies: Waymo, Nvidia, etc who will help the autonomous portion.

I think I hardly see anything about Tesla Dealership architecture for Trad and it's really a shame.

The signals advantage not to mention On demand efficiencies are crazy. Less stockpiling by far.

The logistical advantage of not having parking lots full of inventory all over the country is enormous. Even if you view the dealerships as seperate from trads, it's still a time bomb.

They lose in the EV transition. Think on the dealership delta over time from here to 2025.

Now that's JUST EV, factor in waymo, autonomy, robotaxi

We are in for a spectacular explosion of dealerships and hence the things adjacent, trad auto.

THE EXPLOSION IS COMING

I can draw it out, it's as simple as 1+1 = 2

think on it, dealerships, inventory, EV changes and that's enough

THATS ENOUGH

yet you have robotaxi shit too. Throw that in your models.

You have a retailer that is brick and mortar only with huge inventory.
You have a retailer that is the only digital online sales in the sector.

Do you value the digital online sales higher? Because of less inventory costs and better signals/logistics possibility?

Now look at

Tesla (Dealership + Manufacturer + maintenance)

vs

Trad Auto + Dealerships

If you look like that, you're just a diamond dozen to them. You're white noise.
That look is for impressing women anyway, because women can't think. If you're hunting bigger game and trying to impress business people, you need to play a bigger game. And that means bigger clothes.

If you wanna stand out, the best way to do it is to BOOM. Boomermode. Now you can go the jeans+new balance look that Carell nails in the image that I posted, or you can go buffetmode with a boring suit and tie. Either straight stocks or possibly LEAPS for TSLA. Or you can wait for a pullback until you're blue in the face. Elon really fucked up the Model 3 launch, but has since sorted out his shit and is relentlessly innovating automotive and expanding into foreign market. Or you could wait for muh recession, but there's no way Trump will avoid browbeating the Fed if it stops totally-not-QE before his reelection.

I wouldn't avoid TSLA, I just have my money tied up in other bets.

So many people seize their attention on a particular stock, perform inadequate DD while they mentally hem and haw over a handful of data points, jump in too much too fast, and the time they should have spent on DD instead they piss away on here iteratively torturing one particular investment thesis.

The fact that it has been a rough 5 years does not mean they aren't close to pulling out of it.

Wanting specific stock picks on here is like wanting to talk to tripfags. That, and I've not yet been successful enough to do this full time, I still need normie day job salary.

...so having said that, here is where we will be in 1 and 5 years, and a handful of totally shitty anon suggestions:

Either Trump or Bloomberg will get elected. All other candidates suck dick. More importantly, the voters and shadow money all have made clear a Trump-like candidate is what "we" want. So that's what we'll keep getting. With Trump in the driver's seat, liquidity will continue to be available. Trump will physically throttle a Fed chief that lets the market hiccup. Minimum wages will continue to be depressed in enough areas to hold down inflation. And the easy credit won't last forever. M&A will be as big as ever this year.

Longer term, people will still be fat fucks (yes i'ma mention amrn so brace ur buttholes) and demand for low maintenance non-ICE vehicles and phood will be huge.

So:
For medium term, bet into biopharm and amrn specifically. John Thero *does* want a buyout, but also *does* want a nice premium. AMRN didn't pump earlier for competition and patents. That's all clearing up now. He'll hold through catalysts as he's being lowballed hard by a certain international clique. This clique is irked by Thero rubbing their noses (lol) in it, but they also are uneasy at him selling a drug for a reasonable price. They'll want him out of the game sooner rather than later.

Longer term, LEAPS--long positions for TSLA and BYND, short FANG. FANG is an increasingly boomer meme, a company can't be both huge and growth in a recession. And that will happen (after this election).

Trust me that didn't make the feeling of losing money any easier.

Let's go over all the fun memes, in order:
1). Penny meme stocks in 2017, high school and put no thought or care into what i was doing, lost about 300-400 dollars out of 2k
2). Unironically investing in TVIX because 'lmao what is futures contract decay and rollover, what is leveraged ETF trading???', lost another 300-400 out of 3k
3). The crazy zigzagging in the middle? June 2018, Options contracts, learning as I go. Went good, went bad. Crazy stuff. Stock market absorbed a lot of the losses, and made the gains look better.
4). The decline after the zigzagging was puts on AMD, September 2018. That was a complete ignorance of changing times, and I wanted the world to change for me. Another 500 dollars lost.
A lot more was lost on the contracts, the stock market was again, making the losses look less bad, and feeding into that belief.
5). Biopharma memes, end of october to now. Trying to keep a 6%-10% exposure range on stocks I've researched heavily or have belief in, 1-3% on those that are sideways. No matter what, if they lose too much money, I bite the bullet and cut them out and just reinvest in the green stocks and the SPY on dips.

New traders, don't do what I did. Just invest in the SPY, it's way more lucrative, time-efficient and likely the best path for people.
