stocks are the new savings account. they want you in stocks. they don't want you to have a savings account. they want you in risky assets. they want you to make gains in the stock market because when you take profit you have to pay cap gains tax. if you just kept $25K in some savings account earning 2.5-5% interest, you're not really on the hook for as much taxes as if you parked that amount in FB stock and then sold it for profit.

so they win when you cash out profit, and if you happen to buy shitty stocks that go down, or if you don't sell at the right now, you lose, and they don't really care when you lose.
