Depends on what type of account its in. Ex. Roth IRA, you won't get taxed for gains within your portfolio. It its taxable and if its qualified, likely the most you'll pay on any dividends is 15%, less if your income is below a certain level. If the dividends are not qualified, it will be taxed at your income level. despite being taxed, I still think dividend growth investing is a tax friendly way of growing dividends, especially if you have them in an IRA or tax friendly account.

I think car companies are cyclical so look into Ford's payout ratio. This doesn't look very good but it could be a one-off year. if they're buying back shares, that helps with the payout ratio because they don't need to pay out dividends on the shares they own

With spreads the risk is pretty much the same, it is defined within an area with a max loss. Gains are also capped for spreads. The main difference is when you enter a credit spread, you are instantly paid a premium for the trade. For a debit spread, you are paying money to enter into that trade.
There are many different other aspects to this, and I recommend youtube if you're interested.

Ford sales are declining. They're getting out of producing nearly everything besides trucks and vans, two things that are going to greatly favor EVs but they haven't been transitioning fast enough and cannot compete with the Cybertruck that offers greatly better performance and features for less than the average truck selling price. They have over a hundred billion dollars worth of debt. Their Mustang brand is rapidly dying off along with the Baby Boomers and the Mach-E will be yet another failed 'Tesla Killer'. They're technologically behind a lot of other companies in the autonomous driving space.

It will be interesting to see if they survive the next few decades.

I have no idea what they're doing there. Maybe VW would buy Ford out for their brand but I don't think their assets are worth all that much. I think the trend is going to building fewer factories but making them gigantic and a lot of the old factories will have to be extensively renovated in order to produce EVs so I'm not sure if it would be a good financial decision to pick up all their factories. Their partnership makes sense because they have limited overlap in their markets so they can share technology without undercutting each other, but I'm not that impressed by Argo AI which they both own part of. They should have invested a lot more money in that venture.

Yeah that buy was pretty bad, even if the trade works out actual traders wouldn't call this a valid trade. Add vwap to your chart and even if you're scalping for the day, double check the levels you're trading with stronger levels a.k.a daily, weekly and monthly levels. Because price actually bounced the untested daily almost perfectly.
One thing you have to keep in mind with Forex is that it's basically manipulated in a sense by banks and institutions. They use algos and algos loves indicators like vwap which is why you should use it.

>Why won't dealerships sell EV?
Dealerships make the majority of their income off servicing vehicles, not in selling them which they can even lose money on in some cases. EVs inherently require less maintenance, there are fewer things that can break, and it looks like they may have more longevity as well. Then you have to factor in that autonomous vehicles means we'll need a fraction of the cars on the road so they're less likely to sell something in that area as well.

so basically Tesla had poor QC for a while early on, but the total maintenance of a EV is significantly less. A dealership needs larger initial margins on sale of an EV.

Take current dealership "tax" on initial sale and expand it for the margin they need in an EV world.

The companies don't have to swtich to EV
They have to switch to non-dealership model too
ASAP to ever compete

LULULULULLU:

then they cros 2 CHASM

then the have to do autonomous, sensors, OTA updates, and have an AI+Chip team or outsource all that profit to waymo/nvidia

Some of them have a complex where it's not enough for them to make money, they want to be the person that perfectly times the market and makes out like a thief in the night while everyone is losing their shirt. Call it the Big Short Disorder or something, but some of them are legitimately mentally ill and trade without any rationality behind their actions.

oh so I have to go back and stare at my trade?!?! I know what i did.. I know that on friday I didn't want to be holding calls on a company that has already a made a good run up and I didn't want my $60 profit to go away.. so I took it and slept well this weekend.. and now i'm back in it...

Your attempt to troll is terrible.. you are trying to say that I'm emotional on an old trade.. a trade in which I made money on.. and I've even stated that I don't want to look back at it because it'll eat at me... WHY THE FUCK WOULD I LOOK BACK AT IT AND JUST THINK ABOUT IT??!? My way of dealing with shit is to not get caught up in the past but to learn from it and move forward..

again.. do you hold onto the past???? if so.. maybe you are in the stock market to prove something to someone that probably no longer even gives a flying fuck about you... nice try kid.. but next time... try harder.. now if you don't mind.. I have a lunch date with my ex gf :)

I originally went to school for electrical engineering and work in the field, so yes. But if all you're gonna do is skim over and call stuff garbage (which im sure you already made up your mind on that before you even watched anything), I think we're done talking.

I'm still curious what YOU do though in trading and how successful you've been (although as anons you could just make up whatever in that department so it's less valuable, but still interesting). If you're just gonna shit on other people without knowing anything about them and not give any different option, not even point to "hey i think your guy or source sucks, but check out my guy or my source instead, i think he or it's great for reason XYZ", then your opinion is worthless. I suggested Live Traders last time. He's good..not my style but good. Then there's Alfonso Moreno. I'm not using his original strategy but his approach gave me quite a lot of insight into supply and demand bases strats(if you want to call it that).
The signal processing approach is lost on stocks imo. It's more about structure and value by price - type of metrics. None of the platforms I know support those kind of things... so I'm creating my own. Market internal are not irrelevant like for example gamma exposure.
Making money in the market is easy..huge returns are the hard thing to do but that's exactly what you need with only 10-20k.

if you want to backtest you need to learn how to code. tweeking parameters of your indicators so they fit your chart nicely is called curve fitting and it's a mistake.

well at least that's something. but I too mentioned LT's before. i made the point that learning from both LT and NNFX would give someone a very strong foundation to work with that they could then build upon with further financial education. the only real difference is that LT works with price and volume patterns (naked charts) to find high probability setups, while NNFX works with a system of indicators which measure different things and then agree with each other to create high probability setups. haven't heard of the Alfonso guy so at least there's one thing of value I can check out.

honestly the overfitting isn't even that big of a deal, what matters is not looking at indicators as "magic lines" but actually learn what they're telling you. the aroon indicator is a perfect example. "lmao 2 lines cross" is how people look at it, even NNFX purposefully gives people a really dumbed down version of it in one of his videos (on purpose because he's not going to actually give you his system, just an outline of it so you can see what's possible and put the work in yourself). what it's ACTUALLY conveying is when you're hitting new highs or new lows compared to a set period (whether time, ticks, etc). it's useful as a signal because if you're in an uptrend you should be making new highs, if your not making new highs nor new lows then you're probably ranging, that is useful data to know. you combine that with a confluence of other non-parallel relevant pieces of data and you have a higher probability of being right instead of wrong.

the basic idea of "if condition 1 is saying long, and condition 2 is long, and condition 3 is saying long, and condition 4 is saying long, then i should probably go long" is what went over your heads. it's up to you to figure out what those conditions are that have the most significance. i don't need backtesting to know that higher highs is one requirement for an uptrend to occur. one of many requirements.
