16797247

I'm continuing from last thread. This run-up in every single financial product since the bottom in 2009 has just been staggering. Debt has historically low risk premiums right now, banks are not pricing in default rates anywhere near historic rates, let alone what current economic climates show the future default rates to look like. The bull in me wants to say "there's a lot of loose monetary policy left to go, so enjoy the crack up boom" but from a levelheaded perspective, this was the boom. The dollar has only gotten stronger during this historic run-up, you missed the train buddy the time to buy was 11 years ago. So who knows how high this is going to go, but extreme overvaluation masquerading as a tempered recovery with room and debt to go does not really sit right, and seems to go against the reality of rapidly deteriorating economic conditions.

Yeah uhhhhh you have a major doom bias. Investors are terrified and there’s mention of stock market correction everywhere.

Consumer earnings to debt service ratios are the lowest they’ve been since we’ve kept track, outflows from the market and into bonds and money market funds were at multi year (possibly record) highs.

There’s so much cash on the sidelines because everyone is afraid. 2008 and 2018 are fresh in everyone’s mind, and because the major 2018 correction made 2019 look like an insane bull run, everyone is saying “this can’t last oh shiiiiit!!!!”

You only likely have the last 20 years to look back to, and because of recency bias, you’re going to be fearful.

That said, I expect the trade deal to be a sell-the-News event, and think most of this year’s gains will be in the first half of the year. The second half... is crab season, and could be correction territory. That will be a “buy the dip” moment, so I plan to have cash and possibly QYLD.

Also, I expect good things from the lead up to the summer Olympics in japan.

I'd counter with:

The influx into bonds has also been a huge run-up, this is at the crux of the inverted yield curve. People are drastically seeking returns, yet want to feel safe and hedged, thus the half a trillion inflows into long term bonds specifically this year. Money market inflows are actually not that big of a deal, if you look at the overall numbers it correlates extremely well with extremely risk averse long term retirement accounts rotating out of their extended duration bonds during the run-up into less interest risk investments. It's also interesting to note MMF inflows continue to grow in tandem with increasing retirement.

Income to debt is also an interesting piece of data to look at. You're correct that it's lower now then it has been before the top of other bubbles like 2008, that is kind of misleading though if you consider the quality of the debt. Household debt, including payments, has historically been very high with mortage payments, which in turn caused the debt to buildup slower as equity was also built at some rate for homeowners. Within the last 11 years though car payments have nearly doubled in debt allocations for consumers, and student loans of course have done the same. Degrees and automobiles do not build equity and cannot be collateralized, so I think thats something interesting to look at. It means if a downturn does come for employment and employee pay in some form that nice debt to income ratio is likely to evaporate at a very quick pace. Almost everywhere else in the world besides america is at record levels of household debt however. There has been a global consumer debt binge, and while our economy may not reflect that all of the foreign ones do.

The counter picture I would like to paint you is an aging population rotating out of equity markets into safer and more liquid investments, and in turn cash as well, with what equity left being bid up extremely high by the staggeringly low spreads being offered to corporations from this huge pile of cash looking for low risk liquidity, and with no other place to go then equities. This is all providing an increasingly large spread between the median realities of the american tax payer and the mean, and any fundamental strength perceived being built on top of historic presumptions which don't stand true in the global economy any more.

I'm not a perma-doomer don't get me wrong, I just think this will be the last cycle of american prosperity backed up by nothing other then high return on investment per citizen. I think immigration first policies are bound to fail for the market in a big way, and while we may not see japan syndrome I think the market will definitely see a palpable shift away from current prevailing financial wisdom towards more quality and specific knowledge being rewarded, and that large financial institutions based entirely on middle-manning capital productivity spreads will become an antiquated business model. Wether we are on top or not still I dont know, I don't think america will even come close to having the discussion if we are actually in line with other first world countries until 2050 at the earliest, but debt will certainly take on new connotations and the era of guaranteed retirement will be long gone, if it isn't already.

He was acting really weird so we took him to the vet and they were like "yeah his heart fucked up so he's like drowning in blood on his insides... we can try and do cat heart surgery". you can minimize risk by not going all in. Pennies move a lot, so by simply pouring a bit of money you could make a lot but won't lose a lot. You only lose a lot if there's a reversal, which only happen with bad news. So just do a quick google search before buying although then you could miss the dip... I mean, you gotta have some plan or something... But with pennies I got my $500 account to $1,100 in a week, so even if you lose like $100 or $200 you can still recover but then again, you gotta have a plan dude.

who gives a shit if you lose 50% if you're making like 500-1000%? the mooning should more than make up for whatever you may lose on the ones that don't work out. obviously you just cut your losses on any that fuck up your thesis (you think it's gonna pass a FDA trial and they don't for example).

you should never juggle with more than 4-5 penny stocks. They move really fast you have to constantly be moving the stop loss, looking for the high or the closest to the high to sell and stuff like that. With 10 that's just too much. The most I can handle are 3 at a time.

Not to mention I try to squeeze the most out of them so I'm always stalking the MACD for the momentum, the RSI for the dips and highs and of-course the support line.... You should always set a stop loss at support or slightly below support at the every least. Gotta protect the capital, so you can try and recover the next day.

idk what the ideal number is, it doesn't have to be 10 i just kinda threw that number out there. what really matters is how many penny stocks you can find and come up with a strong FA foundation. it wouldn't even be about stop losses for me, the stop loss is "this company no longer has the potential to moon". i had a friend recently trade VBIV, he bought in at around $0.80 and survived months through the $0.50 offering and ended up selling at $1.20 recently. he believed it could still moon regardless of being down nearly 50% and he went BIG into this one thing. he even bought back in at $1.30 and it recently got as high as $1.60.

i just don't think you can really stop loss a penny stock because it's so cheap and you have to buy so many shares of it. you find stocks with a strong argument for them eventually mooning, and you stick with them until they moon or prove they can no longer moon. without the research it's all meaningless but i think the wins should more than make up for any losses. you can only lose 100% of what you put in but you can make 5x, 10x, and more on a moon, and it's highly unlikely they'll go bankrupt if you do it right, maybe lose 50%. 50% loss vs. 500% gains is pretty fucking good odds, for example.

you split up your money because it de-risks you. you know all these penny stocks have a strong potential to moon, but you don't know which ones actually will or when. if you put all of your eggs in one basket and it's wrong, you get turbo fucked. if you essentially diversify your high risk high reward portfolio it simply gives you way better odds.

Yeah I've been trading full time for roughly 2 years now. I can't really say what my strategy is without having to explain everything I do, it's pretty much a mix of a few strategies but the major one by far is price action trading which I think is the most important one to understand as an active trader.

>and how have things been going?
When I first started I blew two accounts, but I understood I would blow them up for obvious reasons. So at first I lost ~$350 over 1-2 months and the second time ~$800 over 6 months (actually got to $2200 before I blew it all on countless of bad trades in a row). After a while I felt comfortable enough to start trading for real, deposited a couple of thousands to my account and started trading with a rock solid set of rules to keep the "FOMO mentality" in place and with the knowledge I had learned/developed over the months of wiping my accounts clean made me profitable. So overall I have been trading for roughly 4 years now, I didn't count the first year because it was just me fucking around with $50 or so on micros and x500 leveraged trades.
Nowadays I'm just doing great, sitting on my ass trading for a living and having financial freedom is the best thing you can achieve as a human in today's world.

Yeah it was New Years Baggie was on here while indulging in a celebratory way. Baggie did state many times he was quitting drinking after New Years, so this was his last hoorah. The scary part is no one has seen him since. I agree though, that’d be a good thing for himself if he joined a 12-step. It’s been a trip watching him blow up accounts and go from being cool to unraveling to the point of where anytime he’d show up on here, it was incoherent rambling. It’s a shame my Baggie indicator doesn’t work without him. I was a strong believer that Baggie was sent back from the future to tell us what not to invest in or how not to trade the market. Good for him if he’s bettering himself though.
