The model is that every piece of data on-chain is tied to a bitcoin address, meaning everything you do on-chain can be monetized, forever, as long as you own the keys. Weather is just the first step.

is the software built out to have a contract data for sats?

>> No.16793203

how do we know the data isn't spoofed from the local weather.com?
or any system for that matter
like you're going to have to create a brand new business model
also your little devices collecting data are so limited
unless you can jailbreak a phone or whatever and use all the sensors on that and have it connected to a human 14 hours a day to collect data
any why put it on a blockchain? micropayments?

>> No.16793261

Can you re-phrase this question?

>>16793203
>how do we know the data isn't spoofed from the local weather.com?

I mean, it probably is in its current form. Eventually people will plug in their own personal weather machines, which may bring in more revenue

>also your little devices collecting data are so limited

5G will change this

>any why put it on a blockchain? micropayments?

Micropayments and long-term immutable data sets. Check out this paper:

I was asking if the contracts are already built out to trustlessly convert bitcoin for data
like is there a guarantee I'm getting this data and it's verified and I'm getting it right as I send the payment
I was reading about a data transfer idea on the lightning network where they reveal a portion of the hash or something and it guarantees the data you're receiving is the data you want and not some spoofed bs

ELI5 the mechanics behind how the owner of data actually gets paid? I think I understand all the moving parts, just not how you actually get paid for data stored data stored on a public ledger. Even if it's encrypted data, how would you even be able to sell if it I can't see the data is valid until after I've bought it...

So when you put data on chain, you're basically writing an unspendable transaction with data attached, kind of like a memo field. No actual bitcoin besides the miner fee is sent to this dead address. When you pay this miner fee to put it on chain, you're obviously sending bitcoin from an address you own. So when an app uses or reads this data, it can also reference the address you sent it from and construct transactions/tips/micropayments to this address. Does that make sense?

>> No.16795231

>>16795110
It doesn't make sense to unethical thieves because in their mind, everyone would just steal the data. They don't understand how civilized people operate.

They don't understand how pirating music is no longer so prevalent now that easy to use digital services are available for music.
