Frens,

The father of 'Wisdom of the Crowd' is Aristotle. In his work, Politics, he stated, "it is possible that the many, though not individually good men, yet when they come together may be better, not individually but collectively, than those who are so, just as public dinners to which many contribute are better than those supplied at one man's cost."

The collective answer is more accurate than the single answer. The benefit to /biz/ is the anonymous nature of the contributors, the absence of "social pressures" normally attributed to more group-think social networking sites such as Reddit or Facebook. /Biz/ is the place where business opportunities are scrutinized without regard for one's IRL position. Excellent ideas are the only thing that "stick".

We have enough bulls and bears who frequent /biz/ where we can have a fairly reliable assessment for the highest price LINK will experience for 2020.

Instructions: Give a price figure for where you believe will be the highest price point for LINK in the year 2020. A few based anons who are willing to calculate the many responses will be highly appreciated.

I will refrain from making a price prediction only until the 30th comment in order to not "seed" or influence the outcome.

Love you all and good luck.

I think $15-20 seems reasonable with moderate advancements and btc looking healthy after halving.
Still seems a little hard to imagine having that much money. Everything points to adoption rate increasing at a great pace.
Also it looks like link is being heavily accumulated with top 1% owning like 70% of the tokens (tho not sure how this compares to other coins). Also saw how it was the most withdrawn token from binance recently.

Of course, if another startup does the same thing as Chainlink but in a quicker timeframe, it would obviously not bode well for us.

I don't see staking happening soon so I'm going with a conservative $10 ATH.

I think that we get news worthy of a huge 10x pump at some point in 2020.

If btc doesn't fuck up and we have no blackswans, then maybe we bleed out another 10-30% from here and then sideways with some ups and downs till a 10x takes us to something like $14-25.

If btc shits the bed down to $5000-6000 and goes sideways:
Link goes down even further from today. Maybe 20-50% from here. Then overall sideways with ups and downs. Then 10x when we get more pumpworthy news, so $10-15.

If btc shits the bed at the same time we get our pump news, then we get that 30-50% price drop but don't get that 10x pump because btc fears kill our momentum. So maybe we just go down between $0.80 and $1.35 and take the year to recover to $2 or $3. Maybe we get lucky and hit $4 or $5 due to another random minipump like the one that took us to $3 a few weeks ago.

If btc recovers then we rise with it or maybe a little more if we can get consistent news that is good but not earth-shattering news. The rising probably won't be at the same time since alts tend to get fucked when btc rises, but link should be one of the few alts to recover in between btc pumps. Maybe we get another 30-50% growth due to this, so take the above good and middle ranges of $14-25, $10-15 and multiply by 1.3-1.5x:

Good: $14-25*1.3 gives us $14-32.5, a really big range. I personally think 1.5x on $25 would be insanity so used 1.3. Thus, anywhere from $14 to $32 in this good case.

Middle: $10-15 with 1.5x on the higher number gives a window of $10-22.5 in this middle case.

For the bad range of $2-3, I'm not multiplying because I think that case kills wider positive sentiment regarding link and prevents us from rising in a btc bull market unless we get seriously pumpworthy good news again afterward.

I think the middle case where btc dumps a little more and then recovers is most likely by far, so I expect 2020 high to be somewhere in $10 and $22 with real chance of $2-3 and near 0 chance of the good case.

You're welcome. However, OP forgot to mention that wisdom of the crowd relies on 5 conditions that aren't strictly met in this scenario
>diversity of opinion
>independence
>decentralization
>aggregation
>trust

Both independence and decentralization (ironically) aren't being met. Independence is the criterion that states people's opinions aren't determined by the opinions of those around them, and threads like these are an echochamber. You would need to go out and ask what people think about Chainlink. Secondly, decentralization states that people are able to specialize and draw on local knowledge. It's not being violated, provided that people around here have different skillsets and education. Something tells me this isn't the case here.

Some other tips on when WoC works best:
>The best decisions are a product of disagreement and contest.
>Too much communication can make the group as a whole less intelligent.
>The right information needs to be delivered to the right people in the right place, at the right time, and in the right way.
>The three conditions for a group to be intelligent are diversity, independence, and decentralization.

> There is no guarantee that 2020 or 2021 will be like 2017. Nothing is ever guaranteed.
> None of the previous BTC pumps were anything like 2017.

Reminder the meme back then was “btc pump to 1k was a one tricky pony no other coin can copy that pump”. No one was even sure if btc was even going to pump again. Btc climb to 1k really felt like a one time deal.
You guys have no idea how easy chainlink is comparatively

No.

No one fucking knows where this shit is going. No one knows whether we'll have another 2017 or not. Anyone telling you that they do is straight up lying. Of course, the same goes for the reverse but 2020 will be the ultimate decider for whether or not the 4 year cycle, stock to flow, etc holds true.

Those of you who believe crypto is totally unlike previous markets in history are mistaken. Believing that just because crypto recovered quickly in the past, does not make it true that it will do so again. Mentally prepare yourself for a difficult journey, else you will not make it.

this anon >>16729613 is correct. I was there in 2012 when it started to pump from $100. People kept saying it will never go to $1000 and above while a minority kept saying that BTC kept breaking all barriers, first beyond $1, then $10 and $100. Do you want to know why another pump will eventually happen? Because people are greedy and because FOMO will set in again at some price level. Back then there was no utility, nothing to test it against. We've got currency devaluation, inflation on the horizon now - it might not happen now, but it most definitely will some day. Not saying that this definitely will set it off, but Bitcoin is a safe hedge against both of the above.

This is not a true Wisdom of the Crowd exercise as this is not a crowd -- it's a cloistered community with vested interested in the weight of the answer tilting in one direction.

I'm not a statistician, but gathering the collective Link community's answer and then weighing it as 33% of a larger $ amount aggregated from another two additional groups' views would be smart. Don't know how to do that or who the other two groups should be off the top[ of my head.

One should probably the most hillbilly sample you could find, the other should probably be 10-20yo since they're the ones who are going to be running the show 20 years from now.

As a side note, median prediction value from additional responses rose to $24, while trimmed mean rose to $29.10, n = 73.
