**LATE NIGHT GOLD CALL**
Name your plays
Whose watching the true golden bull of 2020?
I told my girlfriend yesterday about the break to 1520 and bought calls on iau/gdx/gold for a month out, gonna be fun trying to see how long I can hold!
Stonks will pump but gold and especially silver absolutely HAVE to follow suit and fill the gap.
Look at small miners like goro, wpm, maybe an etf like ring for good plays on long holds.
Goro pays mothly dividends with a physical gold payout option as well and makes up 5% of my portfolio.

Don't sleep on newmont and gold either, look at those charts ready to explode.....just sitting here waiting for it to come...

Yeah that's what I meant by "... for gold". It was very unusual for the shiny rock to move that much that fast. Of course there have been other moonshots far exceeding 770%, many in under a year and it happens to some rapid growth small cap stock every year at that. Those are a different category than the one gold plays in. As for the bagholders who bought the top, tough shit. You know the game you're playing when you open a brokerage account. Or you should anyway.

I'm a bit worried about this being a huge bull market peak and gold rising up at the same time and with this speed. iirc, Gold had a huge spike around july-august and stonks took a moderate plunge during that time, then it yoyoed a bit for a while while stonks quickly recovered and started going back up again at full speed. We had a couple of short gold spikes that were mostly accompanied with stonks crabbing or taking a very small dip. This time though, gold is quickly going for an ATH while stonks are STILL going up (most of them at least, I had a couple of reds yesterday for the first time in months). All of this during christmas and NYE, no less. We all know how (((they))) love symbolic dates to fuck things up and this might just be a sell signal. I'm not selling, anyway, but I just put some very conservative SL to take profit in case shit goes down on the opening today or on 2nd jan.

Give that a minute. I have sell signals on the daily SPY and SPX500USD. However, gold's correlation with the index is more complicated than simple inverse. Throughout the last several decades it has ranged between positive, negative and no correlations. Stocks and gold rising in tandem over a period of months is not unprecedented.

Well, it's the end of the year so I might as well reflect on my past 12.

I finally took the time to set up a broker account September 2018. Went with the ol' ETF split of 70% MSCI World, 30% MSCI Emerging Markets. End of year I was down -14% and -6% respectively. Now year on year is +21.5% and +14%. Overall ROI after fees and taxes were I to liquidate today is +9.7% and +8%. Not bad for zero work, even for an exceptionally good year. I didn't expect returns this big on such a short timeframe.

Some interesting lessions for me. When I entered the market people were telling me the crash was imminent. And it did indeed dip, but getting in was easily the right choice. I would have waited for a bottom forever, always hoping/waiting/fearing. I'm seeing how cost-averaging with regular investments is a really decent strategy for long-term gains and how timing the market is a really tough one. If we get the big one with over -30% I would obviously shift a lot more into index ETFs, but for now I should start regularly buying as well. Maybe 5k every half year? We'll see.

What are your gains for the past 12 months, /biz/?

>>16705411
>Wild move for something like gold.
Historical unicorn. There is no second Bretton Woods to be cancelled.

But yeah, it was wild indeed. I have inherited some coins bought during Bretton Woods. My dad used to get angry he didn't buy more. Back then my family was much poorer, but if he had bought gold with all his left-over money he would have been set. Short term obviously, but even until today that shit still beats out real estate (though probably not for long, the way prices are going up).

Very similar to yours as I utilize the same boring strategy of getting rich slowly. I tried my hand at trading like everyone else, and realized the time spent for what equated to mostly a wash could have been spent doing more productive things.

BTK inhibitors are a billion dollar industry, their molecule has already shown clinical activity and the next cohort data will be at 400mg which is the effective dose for Ibrutinib, their main competition. Upon even a single partial remission they will become a $3 stock easy, maybe higher, and their 300mg data showed heavy effect on all of the relevant biomarkers, consistently, unlike the lower dosages.

I just want you to know that the last four stocks I took seriously but eventually bailed on have started to boom in the past week. All four of them are up double digits. I bought a bunch of SNSS in that 20 cent dip a few weeks ago, but then sold it off for quick profit. When it hit the 40 cent range and stopped I figured it was a trash stock and dumped it. After what happened this week Ive put what little I have left back into SNSS. In the next two or three months SNSS should boom and you should be able to break even. You are welcome.

I have 331 shares of SAVA and the patience of a saint. WIll I make it?

>> No.16707823

There is literally no point in selling a stock as far as I can tell. You do some research, you invest your money and then ... why sell? If you made good picks in the first place they'll be some up, some down and over time a gradual increase to new high upon new high. I've got to put that money somewhere and if once I've sold if can't find a better pick then ... why sell something in the first place which is performing well? Why buy something which is unlikely to perform well in the first place?

Like all the biopharma trash I'm holding that is up 60-160%. It is certain to go down in the short term, but in the long term is likely to do very well? Like my SAVA which has had highs of 6.12? I bought that shit at 1.60, but I intend to hold anyway so who cares if I sold at 6.12 and re-bought at 5.30? It'll retest 6 and beyond over the next 6 months so I'd literally just be down the commission on the trade.

I invest 8-12k a year anyway so literally the strat is just put 80% of it in an ETF and then make a few picks for $500 worth at a time of something a bit more risky.

The only time to sell something is if you have soured on a company and believe that the exposure is now too great a risk. But taking partial profit if you hold stock overnight?

I got into this thinking that I'd buy low and sell high and there'd always be a fresh company to put my bags into, but in reality it is like ... find something good, buy it, hold onto it.

Reminder: When Big Pharma comes knocking the Green Bags start Flying.. Marketcaps mean shit if Big Pharma wants the company bad enough. What the CEO personally wants doesn't mean shit either. Long as the Board has the majority votes and shareholders give it the thumbs up then Big Pharma wins. Really though you'd have to be dumb as hell to turn down a Fat Green Bag (or two) stuffed full of Cash.

With all the good news it's important not to let the lure of the Fat Green Bag to get outta hand. Sure you'll get a Fat Bag but over doing it is just setting yourself up for despair and gloom if it doesn't come to pass. I look at it like this: If I get 45 - 50 per then hey its all good for me. If I get over 50 per then that's just extra gravy. I'm not talking about just the buyout price either but also the stock price itself. Low balling your expectations will save yourself a lot of mental pain later. Then if you exceed those expectations you can celebrate like mad.

Haha, Nothing can stop AMRN now! Profit shall rain down like mad for ten years starting Monday!. Nothing can keep the stock price down anymore either. By this time next year the current stock price will seem "cheap", that is unless the Holy Buyout happens, which for all we know may happen before Christmas. P.S My T-babies just Hiked that Fat Divvy some more. So double the good news for me, haha.

Some thought me mad as hell, others thought me "retarded" but who's the last one laughing now. The dude who's sitting on a gold mine thanks to AMRN or the dude who dismissed my claims as madness? Haha, fuck the haters and all that shit here's to me finally getting a nice Fat Wad of Green in the bank as well as kick starting my long range plan of a comfy retirement when I'm age 50 and age 65. I took a big ass gamble but oh hey look at that it's paid off for me in the end. Let that be a lesson to all; I always win in the end.

It would not be a surprise if Big Pharma knocks very loud on AMRN's door over the weekend/all next week. With a very nice deal in place before Christmas. They know the time to buy AMRN is before they can get the ball rolling. Cause the longer AMRN goes it alone the higher that stock price will climb and thus the more Green Bags Big Pharma would have to fork out.

Yes it may dip but tank? Hell no. The party as they say is just getting started. There's still more good news in the wings. Canada approval for one, a Buyout for another. Even if a buyout don't take place for a while, so what? The stock price will climb all throughout the year due to demand and drug profit out the ass. There's a shit load of people in the U.S alone who can now take this drug. Add Canada and the rest of the world to that and well, to say this current price is "cheap" is putting it very mildly.

>> No.16707919

>>16707461

For me AMRN is not just another stock. Some people just go "hey if I make money great, if I don't oh well" Which is fine and to be honest that's the right way to go about it. But for me, losing money on the deal was never an option cause I need all the money I can get. Long story short; I'm 36, didn't save as much as I should've during my 20's/early 30s. So now my retirement plan is kinda lacking. AMRN is a way to correct that mistake and give my retirement plan a big kick in the ass. Sure I've got a pension and a 401 and now a brokerage, etc. Both the pension and 401 are doing rather well, but still. It don't mater how good the investments are doing if your still behind as it were. All the retirement people tell you this; "by age 40 your on track for a nice retirement if you have double your salary in the bank (or invested)" Thanks to AMRN I'll hit that mark about 4 years sooner.

Nope, I'm still here. Really nothing is wrong with AMRN, just profit taking and fat cats wanting cheap shares before AMRN flies higher and/or the Buyout happens. Honestly ask yourself this; What has changed that is bad for AMRN recently? Answer; Not a damn thing, in fact good things have happened. Nobody said 30 per share or higher would happen overnight you know.. It takes time. They've overcame all the road blocks set in front of them so far ain't they? Look at the year's earning reports/sales. All though out this year both Profit and Sales have only done one thing; climb higher. There is nothing to indicate this will not keep on climbing in 2020 as well. Also, the fat cats ain't selling any, more like they're buying more, cause they know there's more Profit ahead.
AMRN will be ok and soon this latest stock movement will be all like a bad dream. The company has constantly hit the projections laid out by management. Profit/Sales is climbing higher. It's FDA backed. I mean hell what more >>16707461

Wouldn't be a shocker if AMRN got bought before January is over with for 45 - 50 a share. Profit don't lie. Big Pharma won't let AMRN keep anywhere close to 8 billion. People get you know "bumped off" for only a puny 5k now so yeah.. What would you do for 8 billion? What would Big Pharma do? Open the checkbook that's what.

I do our taxes each year. This is how it works. Each year during Tax season the brokerage will send you (or you can download it) a summary of all your trades. This summary is also sent to the IRS. Each important bit that needs to go on the tax forms is marked. You just fill in the "blanks" on the tax forms as needed. Same way you input your W-2 information or any interest income earned on savings. A key thing to remember is to don't rush into doing your taxes right away. Sometimes the brokerage likes to do late minute updates to your summary. So if you do your taxes and they do this update then you have to file an updated return.

Once AMRN delivers the Green Bags to me capital won't be an issue. More T-babies and more into my Funds. Then if ONTX coughs up a dollar or more hey all the better. Every little bit helps you know.

Yeah that's kinda me. My few stocks are companies I actually give two shits about for various reasons. AMRN, ONTX for the short term gains/profits. Honestly don't care more than that. Once I get my money I'm selling them both (although when I'm an old fuck I'll prob be taking some generic version of AMRN). My other stocks I plan to hold long term cause I do care about them. And you know they will make me a bit of green to so hey that's even better. Mostly my investments will be split between 3 funds once AMRN delivers the goods.

I think AMRN's days as an independent company is numbered. Why? Cause if you knew you had a goldmine at your fingertips you'd be marketing the shit outta it as soon as you could in order to rake in as much Profit as fast as you could. What have we seen post FDA approval? Apart from an interview on CNBC (which said not much of anything) not a thing. It's like the FDA good news never happened. The clock on Profit earning is ticking. 2030 will be here before you know it. It makes since to bag as much as you can while you can. So all this silence kinda means that they don't care much about marketing nor partnerships. I think the deal is getting worked up now. Once the litigation is over with then a formal thing will be announced.

GIS is good too if you want to invest on all the incoming crazy millennial cat ladies. most of them are just burning their fertility on their careers or the cock carousel.

I want to move into Financials and investment brokers next and try and round out my portfolio.

ONTX - 12,100 shares. Times 2.00 or 2.5. All I need to get the ball rolling on other things. If it goes past 2.5 hey all the better (say back to the 52w high of 4.00) but its all good either way. The better part is that this is not some insane numbers based on some hype but is backed by history and therefore is repeatable. Just a bit of good news and this will hit that mark again.

It is pretty boring. I invest at the start of every month after doing research on a sector and what dividend paying stock will benefit me the most. After that its set it and forget it. I haven't had to sell many stocks. I end up reinvesting my dividends. I'm 25 and invest around $1,000 monthly.

My day job is in IT as a software engineer / systems engineer so I don't ever have time to watch graphs and day trade.

Its a pretty safe dividend with steady growth and room to grow. I also think I got this at a fair value during some lawsuits that they where going though. It ended up being nothing so I think it ended up working out for the best.

There’s no way around it unless you never sell. You can hold for more than a year, to take advantage of a better capital gain tax rate, and cut your lossers at the end of the year, to take the amount of the loss off of your capital gains to be taxed. You could also max out the allowed amount to enter a year in an IRA each year, to take advantage of less tax and maximize compounding cash money baby.
