Visa vs Mastercard isn't really much of a discussion, they're both fine and widely used. I have both, and it's easy to get both. The card itself is the real question.

That's Capital One. They'll give anyone with a pulse a $500 limit card - and jack you to 19% interest if you even whiff at being late.
Discover is a card that tried to be Visa/MasterCard, and failed. Visa and Mastercard are what most people get by default with a debit card.
Discover is a strange card. It was started by Sears, to get people to buy more shit in their stores, and now is an independant company, after Morgan Stanley failed to get it to do much better than it has. It's seemingly stable, but other than the rewards, Visa/MC are accepted WAY more places.

I own MA but V is part of the Dow 30. They seem to preform almost in lockstep though, MA is supposed to have a better growth rate.
