How much longevity potential does this have as a crypto? I mean it is just an Ethereum token. I can't rely on it to be something more tangible like BTC or ETH itself as they are coins with their own blockchain.

If you have a 50k stack you can make long-term income when staking is introduced
Otherwise the pump has already come and it's currently priced and what the price should remain stable at for many years to come (read the whitepaper)

Sergey, himself, essentially said LINK will be obsolete in a decade. Take that for what it's worth

It's a shitcoin that will be going to $0 in a couple years. It's pumped by pajeets. The team has no sense of direction and keep saying the same shit over and over again. The job positions on their website have been there for months. How long does it take to hire for a fucking remote job? And they're sitting on millions...

Chainlink is the next logical step in Blockchain technology. If chainlink fails then everything else will die in the long run, but if chainlink succeeds then the Blockchain as a whole (especially smart contracts) will flourish, which in turn will raise LINKs market cap significantly.

Seeing how hard it is for banks to stop using COBOL after a few decades, I suspect that LINK will be used until the end of this century once it becomes the reference for smart contract oracles.
Even if a better technology appears later it won't be used as the effort to move to a new technology will be too big.

so instead of getting your data from a trusted 3rd party, you will get your data from an untrusted third party, and then go get it yourself to verify its correct? $1000 EOY confirmed

Its blockchain agnostic. Its value is in the network of node operators. The token is simply a means of incentive for participation in the network. You arent investing in ChainLink[LINK], are investing in Ari Juels and Sergey Nazarov(and to a lesser extent that chink from Faceberg).

that's funny, because there are many oracle solutions already being used on mainnet that work perfectly fine, which DONT REQUIRE A TOKEN

It's an erc20 token that can be printed from thin air. The network will succeed, but third parties will just enable stablecoin as collateral, which is infinitely better. Invest in MKR.

The oracles that don’t require a token are run by the team that created the dapp, which is a glaring central point of failure. Maker might claim their price feed is decentralized but they could be (and probably are) running all 14 nodes or whatever their config is. It’s all fuckin smoke and mirrors with so called “defi” until you have something like chainlink handling the data
