I had a similar short thesis as you around September timeframe. Ultimately chose not to do it as earnings whipsawed back to green and the stock began its consolidation period.

You'd be a fool to begin any short before it attempts the ATH. It will attempt the ATH. January will be AMZN'S month. And there is no guarantee we see that recession everyone wants.

Intraday vs. overnight thesis is... meh. More important question about all this is, does it matter to your trading strategy? ""Organic""" economy will always cease to exist when derivatives enter the equation. Meaning as soon as you have a market where you can bet on movement without necessarily owning the thing you're betting on, you've got manipulation. Arguably there is manipulation aplenty even in some kind of hypothetical market where you can only buy and sell common shares straight up, or even commodities for that matter including a market where you must take physical possession of the commodity before you flip it on to the next guy. I’ve invested in a very decent upcoming stonk that gave me over 12% profit in around two months time. I got in a bit late into the uptrend, but it was nothing short of meteoric, the shit went from 50 to 105 in a matter of 3-4 months. Thing is, it has been crabbing for a whole month now, which is unusual (for this particular stonk). I don’t really fear a downtrend starting, the fundamentals are stil phenomenal but it seems it has found its price and there’s a lot of resistance going beyond a certain point. The support is solid, too, it’s just stuck. Thing is, I have a few open positions bought at retarded prices since I expected it to go up at the same speed as before. It’s money that could be put elsewhere and generate higher profits. Would you hodl or sell and get back in when it goes back up? I’d have to sell at a 3% loss for said positions.
