Every 3 month I can afford to invest £2,000, so assuming a 5% dividend yield, I'm increasing my yearly passive income by £100 every 3 month.

If I want £1000 a month I will need a yearly passive income of £12000. So, 12000 divided by 100 times 3 is how many months it will take for me to reach my goal.

You'd be a fool to begin any short before it attempts the ATH. It will attempt the ATH. January will be AMZN'S month. And there is no guarantee we see that recession everyone wants.

If the shit does hit the fan though, my AMZN short target is $850.

BMY and BLUE might have good results out too... just do some research on what companies have FDA approvals and PDUFA dates. I’d rather go with the big guys for incremental gains than the big gambles on double or nothing.

>What Is a Bear Market? A bear market is a condition in which securities prices fall 20% or more from recent highs amid widespread pessimism and negative investor sentiment. Typically, bear markets are associated with declines in an overall market or index like the S&P 500, but individual securities or commodities can be considered to be in a bear market if they experience a decline of 20% or more over a sustained period of time, typically two months or more.
>The U.S. major market indexes fell into bear market territory on December 24th, 2018. The last prolonged bear market in the United States occurred between 2007 and 2009 during the Financial Crisis and lasted for roughly 17 months. The S&P 500 lost 50% of its value during that time.

It’s not suicidal, but before you throw your pennies at a stock that could actually go to zero, consider that the copper those pennies contain will likely never be worthless.

You never go all in... if you keep your gambles small, the likelihood of hitting 0 and being kicked out of the casino is much lower, and you might get better at the game as you play it.

It's not entirely wrong. The situation is more complicated than that but yes, central banks and governments intentionally goose their markets to make the numbers go up most of the time. Intraday vs. overnight thesis is... meh. More important question about all this is, does it matter to your trading strategy? It makes zero difference to my strategy whether the markets are ""organic"" (amateur tip: they never are) or the average result of a series of major money movers pushing stuff around sometimes successfully sometimes not.

""Organic""" economy will always cease to exist when derivatives enter the equation. Meaning as soon as you have a market where you can bet on movement without necessarily owning the thing you're betting on, you've got manipulation. Arguably there is manipulation aplenty even in some kind of hypothetical market where you can only buy and sell common shares straight up, or even commodities for that matter including a market where you must take physical possession of the commodity before you flip it on to the next guy. Nope, scratch all that. Organic market does not exist and never has. Get off your high horse and come play with us in the mud.

The richest 10% owns 84% of all stocks (break this down even more and the richest 1% probably owns 70% of all the stocks), 90% of the market is controlled by algos, the largest hedge funds/banks which uses algos to trade manages all the money. The system is rigged and it's that simple, BUT... does it matter? Are you ready to take up the hammer and go out bashing in the skulls of powerful banksters? Fuck no. So start making money and invest it so you're a part of the "problem", the same "problem" that literally drives the world economy forward. There was some guy in the 70s that claimed it was too late to stop the elite, so what makes you think we stand a chance now five decades later without tearing the entire world apart?
Moral of the story.. there's nothing we can do about this and nobody here or on aaaaall of /biz/ is rich enough to even benefit from something like this if it's actually legit in the way he describes it to be. So this is just something you should ignore because it will only make you depressed. I’ve invested in a very decent upcoming stonk that gave me over 12% profit in around two months time. I got in a bit late into the uptrend, but it was nothing short of meteoric, the shit went from 50 to 105 in a matter of 3-4 months. Thing is, it has been crabbing for a whole month now, which is unusual (for this particular stonk). I don’t really fear a downtrend starting, the fundamentals are stil phenomenal but it seems it has found its price and there’s a lot of resistance going beyond a certain point. The support is solid, too, it’s just stuck. Thing is, I have a few open positions bought at retarded prices since I expected it to go up at the same speed as before. It’s money that could be put elsewhere and generate higher profits. Would you hodl or sell and get back in when it goes back up? I’d have to sell at a 3% loss for said positions.

couple of brainlet questions I've been meaning to ask for a while:

How do people actually generate extra monthly income from trading/investing? The only possible way I could think of is having a humongous amount of money on your portfolio then taking out cash every month by closing/closing part of trades, but that would imply you would be making well over, say, 4k euros a month in profits. Am I missing something or is this the only way?

compound interest and long positions: Unless you close a long position and then reinvest whatever profit you made, you're not benefitting from this, is that correct? You're just earning a profit % from your starting position.

I'm a Britbong, I use these sites a lot:

The most important thing I look for in a dividend stock is the dividend cover (1.8 or above), a company that can't afford to pay its dividend won't keep paying it for very long.

He claimed that people should brace for a 10-15% correction back in october aswell so.. mhm. These people have no idea what they're talking about. Nobody knows when the market will finally correct, it migh thappen next week, 2 months from now or 6 months or 2+ years from now. It will obviously happen in time, but nobody knows when so this kind of bullshit it so useless to even talk about.

Forgive me this is my first option trade, but why is it that the share price is steadily rising, but Robinhood is saying I’ve only made $15 regardless? I thought the profits from calls were hypothetically limitless?

>> No.16673230

>>16673216
because the possibility of the share price steadily increasing was priced into the call option you purchased (via the implied volatility). the stock would have to move faster than anticipated to make big bucks.

Fuck, I did not know that’s how it worked. Thank you.

The fact that this market is so bullish that the most obvious levels (like a 15min swing high) will act as heavy support is kind of sad.. but who am I to complain. I'm comfy

ONTX - up over 7% today so far. Oh let it climb.. bring on some good news and send this up to $4 again. Then climb some more after that.. Hitting a nice 10 or 20 a pop someday would be sweet. Hope AMRN gets bought soon. That'd be a nice way to kick off the new year if they did the deal on Monday.

If anyone here trades e-mini's. If we continue dumping then place a trade at 8745 on the NQ or do it at the same spot on the ES, doesn't really matter. It's such a good spot for a bounce back up to the highs. Looks to be a strong buy back now but IF we dump more then take it.
