Silver and cash imo but I've been burned before. Also just because realestate is high generally you can still at least break even and stop paying rent if you buy in an 'upcoming' area and are smart about it (shit neighbourhood that has just received a public transport hub like a train station is a general go-to)

Look I'm gonna give you a hint because I see that you're a yank and aren't gonna be buying the houses I want to buy here in AU but you have to stop being a fucking fag. Find a website where you can view housing price growth since the bottom in 2011 per suburb, consider the fundamentals (public transport, crime rates, etc) as well, but with the graph (housing prices per area) ensure you don't buy a house that has gone up 300k without serious change in its fundamentals. This is how you identify bubble money. This is super simple stuff. For example Albion in Brisbane is a suburb where house prices have literally gone up over 100k this year... There has been absolutely NOTHING to drive this price, no new infrastructure, shopping centres, its just speculation on growth in a general sense. People who think generally a fucking losers like OP. There are always opportunities to invest.

The local market is pumping because boomers are fantasizing over Amazon money yet most of the DC area is filled to the brim with nigs, crime and terrible infrastructure. If I was smart, I would move again. Hopefully I can hold out until they realize nobody is buying at their retarded prices but I’m truly sick of pissing money away as rent.

Stocks are going up in 2020. Even the r*cession niggers have given up on expecting a recession.

>> No.16649592

Historically stocks have been rising 5-7 % per year on average over long term periods. Houses are usually following that somewhat, provided that you buy a house from the center of growth, not some shed in rural area (and even those can grow in value over time if lucky).

Cryptocurrencies are an interesting idea, but ultimately I doubt they are ever going to be commonplace currencies. Bitcoin is like gold except at the end of the day, you don't even own anything. At least you can trade gold to various (niche) industries and it is pretty. I don't see the intrinsic value in cryptos. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The inflation part of cash is true. As long as states want wealth, which is forever, they will be doing this hidden tax to your savings. So I'd put at least some of the money to investments. Just make sure you keep a few months worth of income in emergency cash.

SOXL. Face it. Semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, it's endless. It doesn't matter how many there are, how fast or efficient they are, the demand is for more, bigger, faster, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender, asshole virginity or any other vain conceit; the multitude shouts as one their plea is: semiconductor. Semiconductor.
What delights the most on Christmas day? A semiconducter blinken the lights. So what's this SOXL? SOXL is an ETF, a 3x leveraged entry exposing you to all of the fastest growing, most innovative and successful companies the semiconductor space has to offer. Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, others less recognized yet ppwering the things around you. Peerless visionaries animate these companies, these producers, beating at the heart of the real tech revolution. That is the hardware. And the SOXL ETF is all you need, it is a first class ticket. The last 7 years alone, humble SOXL ?quietly racked up no less than 42x gains. Gaze at the world around us, where we're headed. It's only getting started. There's nothing anywhere akin to the growth of the semiconductor industry and it is accelerating. Expect 420x returns over the next decades and that's frankly off the rails conservative.
Fren, stop waiting for the "pullback". Forget about buying any dips. Where this is going, a few dollars fretting over the price of entry won't matter and fucking around will just cause it to pull further away from you.
Strap in Anon. Now. Buy it now.

that said, being on the "taking advantage" side is pretty fucking sweet, so i really can't complain.

I got into stocks, then I got into options. Lost thousands of dollars in less than half a year.

I pulled most of my money out of the stock market and back into a bank account. What a fool I was. Have like $1000 left in my robinhood account, a bit of which is in an option that has become apparent in being heavily manipulated. Not interested in stocks or options anymore when manipulation is so obviously happening.

There's better and safer investments than the stock market. Had I gone with real estate, at least I'd likely have passive income coming in by now or everything set up and just waiting to get a renter. Or my personal project, at least the funds would be better used. Or even a bank account would yield me more than the stock market. Or going back to college to get certified in a certain job field which I believe I'd have better odds working in compared to my previous jobs and likely be successful at.

Not sure how I'm going to explain my large loss if I get asked by my parents.

If I want to get married but am worried that the woman is just after me for my money, my wife doesn't ever have to know how much money we have and can't ever demand that a judge give her half of our total assets. I say "fucking get serious, judges routinely ignore that and you fucking well know it, anything that has gained value or been commingled in any way, shape, or form can get stolen from you by some vicious greedy harpy and an assholier-than-thou black-robed man-hating government-enabled robber baron.")

If I want to send money to relatives in Iran, I can either risk getting prosecuted by the US Government for violating their sanctions, or I can fire off a Bitcoin transaction.

If someone in some undefined location anywhere on the planet, anonymous to me, does something perfectly legal that I want to send him money for having done, I can send him that money, and he doesn't have to know who I am or where I am either.

And to you, OP, I say: there is risk in absolutely everything that you might or might not do. Taking no action is also an action. You can choose the inevitability of your money slowly losing value, or you can put it at risk doing something.

You might consider starting a small business. Put a couple of grand into a van with a refrigerator in it, and go around selling ice cream bars at the beach for 5X what they cost at the grocery store. All it takes is effort and some research into what the market wants -- don't be that guy who starts a pizza shop and refuses to let his customers choose the option of getting real cheese on the damn pizza because I'M A VEGAN AND I WANT TO FORCE EVERYONE ELSE TO BE VEGAN TOOOOOO!!!!

(I know someone who did exactly that. He was out of business in four months.)

Also don't be that guy who opens a restaurant in a location with zero parking anywhere near it and no foot traffic to speak of. I know someone who did that too. He got zero customers in his first week, I showed up the first weekend as the first and only customer, and I couldn't even be that first customer because he'd already decided to shut it all down.

My own business plan is going to take about a $6000 initial investment and I can make it all back if I sell 100 items out of the 500 that I can make from those supplies.
