So give it to me straight. Next year is basically a guaranteed bullrun for crypto, correct? The hashrate for BTC is literally being slashed in half. Wouldn't this realistically mean the price is going to go up drastically?

>> No.16620217

Maybe.

no, its the reward that is halving
>Wouldn't this realistically mean the price is going to go up drastically?
not necessarily, but im betting on it

this means less BTCs will be sold from mineres, making the btc more scarce, but mining feels will rise making the coin even less usable, unless miners sell their rewards for more and more wich increases the btc value

Recap of Price Action in the 6mos pre-halving;
Jan 9, 2016 - $447 (6 months prior to halving)
Feb 9, 2016 - $376 (5 months prior to halving)
Mar 9, 2016 - $414 (4 months prior to halving)
Apr 9, 2016 - $419 (3 mos prior)
May 9, 2016 - $460 (2 mos prior)
Jun 9, 2016 - $574 (1 mos prior) (pre-halving high of $764)
- Jul 9, 2016 - $650 - HALVING
2016 - Low of $364 (compared to 2020 low of $6,605 (Dec 17, 2019))
2016 - High of $764 (~2x the bottom)
Day of halving = 178% increase vs. bottom.

Post-Halving Price Action
Post-halving low: $547 (Aug 2)
3 months after: $616 (Oct 9, 2016)
6 months after: $902 (Jan 9, 2017)
9 months after: $1,171 (Apr 9, 2017)
12mos: $2,585 (Jul 9, 2019)
15mos: $4,584 (Oct 9, 2019)
Post-halving high: $19,800 (Dec 17, 2017)

2020 Halving Price Action (Actual + Projections (w/ *))
$8,148 (Nov 20, 2019)
$7,150 (Dec 20, 2019) (projected = $6,853)
$7,546* (Jan 20, 2020)
$7,637* (Feb 20, 2020)
$8,384* (Mar 20, 2020)
$10,462* (Apr 20, 2020)
$11,848* (May 20, 2020)
$11,228* (Aug 20, 2020) - 3mos post-halving
$16,441* (Nov 20, 2020) - 6mos post-halving
$31,188* (Feb 20, 2021) - 9mos post
$47,119* (May 20, 2021) - 1 year post-halving
$83,558* (Aug 20, 2021) - 15mos post
$360,918* Post-halving high projection (based on Dec 17, 2017)

Narrative We are fairly closely following 2016 so far. Relative to the relevant prior all-time high ($1,151 for 2016 and $19,800 for 2020) the starting price in 2016 ($447) was relatively close to the starting price for the 2020 halving (Starting price for 2020 halving was $8,148 (price 6mos prior to May 20, 2020) - scaled up $447 is equivalent to $7,689.

And we're seeing a dip similar in magnitude to what we say 4-6mos prior to the 2016 halving. If this continues to play out, we'll have a a couple months ranging around $7-8k. And a speculative bump as we near May. and then a pullback.

It's really post-halving where we have the potential for the supply impact to increase the probability of a moon run.

Once we're past the halving (May 2020) we enter a zone where we could moon at any time. The supply shock provided by the halving provides us with the equivalent of a powder keg waiting around for a spark - who knows exactly when (or if) the spark will happen. Or what the spark will be. If I were guessing I'd say we're more prone to mooning now, than ever before. The world is already familiar with bitcoin, financial talking heads are fluent enough to engage in real discussion and there's a firmly entrenched narrative of digital gold that answers the use case question.

Beyond that, we've got more onramps than ever. Institutional FOMO is my wettest wet dream. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Now is the time to accumulate for long-term capital gains treatment. Now is the time to be patient. Or, if you're a short term trader, play chop here, but also understand how past cycles might repeat
