dividends or share price growth are both fine

the only drawback of dividends vs share price growth is that you have to pay taxes on dividends now, not when you sell; but if you have less money this disadvantage is negligible
if someone tells you "don't invest in dividend stocks unless you have ten millions of dollars" or some nonsense like that, you should ignore that person.
Focus on high quality earnings and earnings growth.

Really nothing is wrong with AMRN, just profit taking and fat cats wanting cheap shares before AMRN flies higher and/or the Buyout happens. Honestly ask yourself this; What has changed that is bad for AMRN recently? Answer; Not a damn thing, in fact good things have happened. Nobody said 30 per share or higher would happen overnight you know.. It takes time. They've overcame all the road blocks set in front of them so far ain't they? Look at the year's earning reports/sales. All though out this year both Profit and Sales have only done one thing; climb higher. There is nothing to indicate this will not keep on climbing in 2020 as well. Also, the fat cats ain't selling any, more like they're buying more, cause they know there's more Profit ahead.

With all the good news it's important not to let the lure of the Fat Green Bag to get outta hand. Sure you'll get a Fat Bag but over doing it is just setting yourself up for despair and gloom if it doesn't come to pass. I look at it like this: If I get 45 - 50 per then hey its all good for me. If I get over 50 per then that's just extra gravy. I'm not talking about just the buyout price either but also the stock price itself. Low balling your expectations will save yourself a lot of mental pain later. Then if you exceed those expectations you can celebrate like mad.

I found a cheaper stock that gives a higher amount (roughly; the dividends appear to be in Canadian currency but even assuming ~25% lost to conversion to USD it comes out ahead by a bit) and pays monthly. AMRN will be ok and soon this latest stock movement will be all like a bad dream. The company has constantly hit the projections laid out by management. Profit/Sales is climbing higher. It's FDA backed. I mean hell what more could you ask for? Now if Profit was tanking, sales were slipping or other shit inside the company then I'd have sold at 26 and ran

Wouldn't be a shocker if AMRN got bought before January is over with for 45 - 50 a share. Profit don't lie. Big Pharma won't let AMRN keep anywhere close to 8 billion. People get you know "bumped off" for only a puny 5k now so yeah.. What would you do for 8 billion? What would Big Pharma do? Open the checkbook that's what.

I don't know the Canadian rules for taxing foreign dividends
I do want to caution you away from buying stocks based on the current dividend yield. The dividend yield should be treated as a piece of information, but you should NOT use it as a main criteria for choosing stocks to buy. An abnormally high dividend yield means that share price will probably be flat or go down; worse the dividend could be cut, which means share price will go down and yield will go down.
If you find a stock with a reasonable dividend backed up by solid earnings, then great! but if you see stocks getting up towards 10% yield and above, make sure that you do research on their financials to make sure the dividend isn't at risk.

If my goal is eventually having a solid amount of passive income from dividends alone, is buying the stock based on its dividends regardless of whether or not the market value of the stock will go up an okay plan? in the long term, you want to have the dividend yield an stock price go up for your portfolio as an aggregate while minimizing risk
A lot of great long term companies might have dividend yields anywhere from 0% to 4%. Higher than that is OK, but it means that the company is paying out a lot of its earnings, so the growth prospect might lower. This is just a generalization, remember the stock market is a wild place where anything can happen.

Imagine a stock that pays 8% yields but the stock price doesn't grow, compared to something like the S&P index that pays somewhere around 2% and the price grows around 8% per year. This example is super boring, obviously you'd rather hold the S&P, but the important thing is that the S&P yield (in dollars) is growing at that 8% per year, if the price goes up and the yield stays the same. On the scale of decades this makes a really big difference in performance. And if you pick really good stocks, you can do even better than that.

Ok so take LLY, I tried shortvolumes and it looks like the short % is going down from yesterday a bit, but it’s still up considerably from a week or so ago it looks like?

Last 50 days short percent is 45, today is 55. I would think that’s very bullish? BUT it’s also gone up a lot in price since then. Do I need to take that into account?

Higher short volume is better. They apparently don't know that or at least don't explain it.

Individual days don't really matter here except you have a sudden surge which probably means that some info leaked. Look at gme.

Could be. My volume indicator (chaikin money flow) is the one saying sell. Usually that means bulls are running a little ragged and about to take a nap and have some snacks. The outcome from this type of signal is mainly a period consolidation incoming; could be mild up, mild down, or crab. I'm new to dividends. Is this correct:

https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/royt/dividend-history

Royt pays 2 cents per share a month.
Let's say 40k a year is middle class.
So 3k a month.
To make 3k per 2 cents a month you need 166k shares.
166k shares x current .40 cents is 66k.

If I invest 66k into ROYT I never have to work again?

I think it's a good entry point from what I can tell. The stock shows an overall uptrend for the year and this week has crossed the SMA line.

Of course anything can happen and it is showing some consistent resistance ~29.40, but that's what stop orders are for I guess.

Also I appreciate you guys. I gambled a little on meme stocks at first and lost about $100, no big deal; but, some of you anons have been helpful and honestly I'm hooked on this now. Uh not trying to spoil the new star wars film for anyone but I think DIS may be in for a slump over it. The billion+ Profit may not happen just going from what I'm reading online from the reviews of the film. Ain't that the mark of a "successful" DIS film now, 1 billion?. (Hell I'd be fucking glad for only 500 million myself but hey whatever, lol)

Children do hair fairly low T I guess, but it’s still a weird arguement.
