Case in point: I bought MEOW at 60 sat. Watched it fall through 50, 40, 30. 20 and now it's going into single figures. Each time people said to hold, it'll go back up, whales are manipulating, keep the faith etc.

Greetings fiends of /biz/. Is there any reason why my local hashrate is much higher than what the pool is reporting? I get the same hashrate with CGMiner on Windows while the pool seems to report the same hashrate. Meanwhile, SGMiner locally reports the proper hashrate but the pool reports a much lower hashrate.

btc goes down because other weak hands got scared aswell and sold off
all cryptos are tanking
mtgox pretty much fucked the whole crypto scene

This has happened in the past. Mt Gox was responsible for a big dip around this time last year.
Cryptos have bounced back; history is likely going to repeat itself unless some flaw in the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies are found.

cryptos have no serious flaw, mtgox had because they been incompetent the whole time. just got written to success and it took several years for the community to realize that there are better exchanges. media however never realized it and so when mtgox fails, it must be the coin, not the incompetent idiots behind mtgox.

Exactly. So the general public may have little faith in Bitcoin at the moment due to a lack of understanding the present situation. But because the protocol is still fundamentally resilient, it would seem the price would rebound as it has done so in the past.
