It's not a perfect test for knowing everything about a person, but if you're just sorting people based on what kind of stuff they might prefer then it works rather well. For example, you'd give an INTP some numbers to run, and let him work alone. You'd have an INTJ work as an adviser/planner. You'd have an ENFP as a salesman. You'd bounce an ENTP around so that he doesn't get bored. You'd put an ENTJ in a leadership position, but ideally one of the more ceremonial, management type positions, not VP of Finance for instance.

The problems with Myers-Briggs arise when people use it as a form of psychological analysis instead of a rough-around the corners system of applied-psychology.
