I have $60, 000 to my name - thinking about going and putting it all on red. At present I can't even afford a house of my own despite earning 80k a year in this fucking country (20% deposit required, houses start at 400k+).

Any advice biz? What the fuck can I do?

because for mortgage they expect you to have a partner, who earns an income. I have been told by a broker that I will need to be earning closer to 100k for a single applicant.

You should be able to amass a 50% down-payment in 3 years if you have any sense at all.

How do you have so little money? With a 30k a year job I was saving 8k a year and in 2yrs had 20k in index funds.

Good fucking luck. I already work at Google; I've made $210k this year with salary, bonuses, and vested stock and I still can't afford a house.

They start at $2M here, all-cash offer, no contingencies. And that's for a complete tear-down piece of shit.

If you live near any major city like Denver, Boulder, Portland, Seattle, LA, or SF houses start at AT LEAST 400k. In fact I looked not long ago and the average home price for boulder was 800k and the surrounding area is averaging 500k currently. Good luck with that shit. You need to be making at least 100k just to live in that area. 20 percent means you need to have at least 100k saved up for a house.

Unless you're playing poker, you won't make any money gambling in a casino.

Going to a casino is meant to be for fun. You go to the MGM Grand with your friends, get drunk, hit on girls, play roulette or blackjack or baccarat for the excitement of possibly winning some money, and then you leave the casino with less money but you had fun. Like Disney World for adults. Going to a casino is for the experience. Not for making money.

That is, unless you play poker.

I mean it's not expensive if you come with 60k there you're a king. Also you can literaly buy women.
Use https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp to find the cheapest place to live. Get a remote tech job to the us/uk and you'll live like a prince

Dude do you live in czech republic? Because I do and Prague is not cheap at all, you will buy a flat for 60k, definitely not a villa.

it's not that hard if your partner works though. most people in seattle are braindead. half my department doesn't know what an excel function is or how to spell common technical terms, young and old. people blow $150 for a steak or fish dinner regularly here and are completely surprised when i cook something better for 25.
