Anyway, I didn't say it would go down. I said it may go down if it cannot break above $87 and change; specifically the last high of 87.35. It did break above that today and stayed above in to close, therefore outlook is bullish. My momentum and volume gauges agree.

Either way, it’s right at the day highs, which would be bullish to me?

I think it might not just be my bias. I think we’re entering a bull run in healthcare. I don’t want to buy ETFs because I don’t want the bad with the good, but I really like the look of these companies. Particularly Merck, Bristol, CVS, UNH. Pfe maybe getting more attention too thanks to being Baron’s cover story.

Biotech, pharma, and managed care are all on fire now, they have momentum. (Possibly related to warren losing momentum). Look at LABU this week, look at VNH lately. Christ, look at Regeneron all of a sudden.

If you feel like reading tealeaves though, I’m still leaning towards MRK BMY UNH CVS.

Okay here's the broad strokes of the bills and what they mean:

>The first bill would require the State Department to certify once a year that Hong Kong is sufficiently autonomous to retain its special U.S. trading consideration — a status that helps its economy. Under that designation, the city is not subject to the tariffs that have been levied on China. The bill also sets up the potential for sanctions on people responsible for human rights abuse in Hong Kong.
>The second measure would bar the sale of munitions such as tear gas and rubber bullets to Hong Kong police.

Bill 2 is minor. Bill 1 will be the sticky wicket.

Securities with dividends of between 3% to 7% with a history of yearly increases of their dividend payouts. If their cashflow is decent for it's market capitalization, then there won't be any foreseeable time when they'll cut their dividends. If the company is strong, which usually dividends is usually one indicator, then you'll get capital gains from the rising stock price as well as monthly or quarterly dividends. Win-win. Now, think of having 10 or so holdings that provide decent dividends yielding 5% of the share price. That's gains my dude

I agree. There is a difference between investing and trading. Trading is stupid and speculative. Investing is about long term, slow and steady gains. In investing you don't care the stock went down 30 per cent, you see it as an opportunity to buy more of that company because, for a smart investor, his due diligence will tell him that the company will make a strong return and will continue to grow in value. For a trader, the opposite is true and will sell when it's dropping in price and buy when it's going up. You want to do precisely exactly the opposite of what a trader does if you want to make lasting money.

"Boomer stock" is just short for target date retirement funds, index funds, etc. Things which are designed for long-term investment. Like a target date retirement fund will be a mixture of US stocks, foreign stocks, bonds and some other stuff, that automatically adjusts the percentages in each class from more risky (stocks) to less risky (bonds) as time goes on and the retirement date draws nearer. The aforementioned index funds like SPY basically just mirror the behavior of the stock market as a whole. So you'll get years with a good return, some years flat, and once or twice every 20 years you'll get halved, but these are designed to be held long-term and the growth always rebounds after the halvings (and if it doesn't, the US economy as a whole is having bigger problems).

Yet another opportunity to buy more of his shares. Any company worth investing in will make it through a recession without going bust. If you have a emotional fortitude to go through a recession without selling off one position, then you'll be that much wealthier, both mentally and financially. NOT Target date retirement funds, people don’t know what’s in these and current monetary policy indicates long term reward from bonds is going to majorly lag.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE BENEFIT OF HOLDING CASH. Unironically, watch Tonight’s Mad Money, it’s a repeat stock show that gives some of the basics.

Put $6000 in an IRA or Roth IRA immediately, then put another $6000 in next year. Use this so buy broad low fee index funds like SPY, VTI. No need to do it all at once, you can do a bit each month and a lot more when the market pulls back hard.

If you’re interested in being more active, watch those mad money repeats and sit on your hands. Buy index funds and Berkshire Hathaway until you know what you’re doing.

With 400K, you don’t need to take risks to get rich. And you can afford to buy protection AKA gold. 5% of your money in gold, keep it in a safe deposit box. If everything goes well, you’ll LOSE money on that gold. If shit hits the fan, you’ll be real fucking happy you have some stupid rocks in a stupid box.

Don’t buy the FUD that banks might not let you get your rocks. If that’s happening, people are basically about to turn to cannibalism and shoot each other rather than trade rocks.

5% gold, 20% cash, 20% BRKB, 20% SPY/VTI/VIG/SCHX. Then do whatever you want, I don’t care. 5% bonds if you’re skittish. Invest in yourself though, go back to school if you need to. If you’re still paying rent, look for a way to fix that.

Holy hell... looks like I picked a real bad time to buy MRK calls and hold my BMY calls. Fuck Xi.

BEIJING/SHANGHAI, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Drugmakers including Roche and Novartis' have agreed to cut the prices of some of their newest drugs by an average of 61% in China in order to get on a national reimbursement scheme list, regulators said.

Addition to the list is likely to boost sales volume by opening up markets in smaller and less-affluent Chinese cities, but some industry insiders have cautioned that only offering deep price cuts in China could spark criticism of the drugmakers in other markets.

Seventy new drugs such as Roche's breast cancer treatment Pertuzumab, sold under the trade name Perjeta, Novartis's dermatitis treatment Omalizumab, branded as Xolair, will be added to the list, the National Healthcare Security Administration said on its website on Thursday.

Chinese patients are allowed to use their state medical insurance to cover a significant portion of the cost of drugs named on the list.

...

Other drugs added included Adalimumab, an arthritis treatment which AbbVie sells as Humira, one the top-selling drugs in the world.

Also included was cancer treatment Tyvyt, or Sintilimab, co-developed by Chinese drugmaker Innovent Biologics and Eli Lilly. It is considered to be a PD-1/PD-L1 treatment, a category of novel drugs that work on the immune system to fight cancer cells.

>China has already approved five PD-1/PD-L1 treatments, including two top-selling global blockbusters made by foreign firms Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck. However neither have been added to the list.

>Analysts say domestically developed Tyvyt's early inclusion could give it an advantage over its foreign rivals.

>"Maybe (Chinese PD-1/PD-L1 products) don't come in and compete on day one with international (pharmas) in all indications, but just getting a foot in the door might already be a big step for them," UBS analyst Michael Leuchten told Reuters before the NHSA announcement.

They’re using Chinese drugs that don’t have the proven efficacy of Merck’s Keytruda or Bristol’s Optivo. Probably will try to make it seem like they’ve developed miracle drugs. It all adds up to damaging US gdp and increasing china’s exports while reducing their imports.

The thing is their ginger beer is like fucking crack especiaslly if youre making a Moscow Mule.. Anyways, they just started going into the states and their revenues are even higher than their home base in the UK and Europe after only less than a year.. I think it will end up being like the next vitamin water or white claw once word gets out about it and you can buy their stock on the NYSE FQVTF or on the LSE: FEVR.

If you're not going to buy stock I'd highly recommend picking some up and making a moscow mule(vodka, brown sugar, lime wedges, mint) Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving Amerifrens

Please explain, why cannabis stocks are having such a big bull ride?
Traded with 3k, went up to 5k, then thought "it is time to sell", but forgot as had to do stuff irl and afterwards saw all stocks fall by 15% and thought "well, they will get back up, eventually, i am here for long term investing". Now at about 2.7k which is quite sad having quite well executed trades prior and simply holding made it get on a hell ride.
To be honest, I have no idea how to determine long term target price, thinking "looks like it would go up, means it will most likely fall in short term, looks like it would go down, means it is likely a good buy", mostly well applied at stocks which look lowballed comparing the history.
Any recommended books on how to determine long term target price?
Any comments, advices would be highly appreciated.

Yeah, it really depends on how much you do your DD, which also amounts to the fundamentals/technicals. It is true that any failure of a clinical trial can cause bio stocks to drop 50%+, and it is dependent on what the FDA requires for them to be approved further. This also applies to PDUFA as well. It is usually MUCH safer if you sell before any sort of date that approves such products can minimize risks. However, you can also get 100-200%+ ROI if there was a successful and positive catalyst. That is why investing in these companies have a high reward/high risk. Most inexperienced investors, however, dodge the "high risk" part unfortunately.

Questions ...
Is it better to diversify my ETF's? I started with a split 50% north america, 25% uk, 12.5% europe and 12.5% japan. My US stocks are up almost 6% and my UK stocks almost 4%. My Europe stocks almost 3% and my Japan only 2%. Obviously I'd love to be up 6% on the whole thing, but my average is just under 4% as a result. 4% sounds terrible, but I've only held it two months.

My aim ... was to hedge risk by spreading it geographically. BUT surely if the US market tanks we all tank anyway. It isn't like US will suddenly do -15% and Japan will do 15%.

Maybe best is to compare. Actually 2015 europe performed best. 2016 uk. 2017 japan. 2018 US. Maybe best to diversify still. OK.

Second I have a trading account to fuck about with. I am not beating my ETF's at the moment, commission takes a lot of my profits, but my portfolio at times has. This is just to play/learn and hopefully beat my ETF returns in time due to active management. Currently 1.6%, again two months. I have parted with 1.8% in commission though. I have 0.32% dividends coming as well though so if I wasn't trading so frequently?

You want to keep as much of your gains as you can. Depending on time scale and how long you got I'd put the bulk in stocks, 70 U.S, 20% into non U.S, with maybe 10% in bonds. Falling into the debt trap is an easy thing. Getting your ass out of it is hard. Fool blows 100 on some "trinket", pays with his plastic. He makes the bare ass lowest payment allowed. Congrats the Fool winds up forking out 200 all together due to fees/interest charges racking up. So he was better off just buying the "trinket" outright rather than using the plastic. Sure 200 ain't bad, but expand that out, say 2,000 or 200,000. Then it quickly turns into a nightmare.

Well you’d have a hard time escaping the pull of the earths core if you can somehow manage not to be crushed and melted into an iron and heavy metal mess. But if you manage to take some uranium with you on the way out, I bet you could get Elon to take you there.

Elon is in bed with the chinese. Why do we tolerate this? We already know they’re trying to take over africa.

For your average Musk fangay, Elon could be in bed with his girlfriend and mum at the same time and they would still give him more money.

>> No.16408859

i hate it, but ima let you know, this is the time to go to your grocery store, and get your roast for christmas, get a big 3 or 5 rib roast. it's cheaper than it was 3 months ago, and if you have a freezer and can wait... you'd better get it now than in 3 weeks, when even after all the sales you're paying out the ass.

I have a stove that uses "natural" gas.
Note that all gasses are natural, calling certain gasses "natural" is like calling certain vegetables "organic", it's just a marketing term, they're all organic.
Oh also all pork products are on sale near where I live. Just bought some sausage and a whole lot of bacon last night, all half off or better.

Organic is a certification in the US, it has to meet certain requirements regarding what chemicals were used, etc.

Those requirements were decided by policymakers with the input of industry... are they better than nothing? Probably. Do they warrant the price difference? Who knows. How long do you plan on living anyhow?
