I'm sorry if this sounds retarded but im trying to get started in stock market investments. I don't know what most of the stuff on this chart means as i am not clear on how to read this. Also, it looks like through all time the price of the stock keeps rising so why can't i just hold onto my stock until it gets really high? Doesn't seem risky.

X axis is time. Y axis is price. The green line shows the price of 1 share of Apple stock over time.

You can hold onto it until it gets really high. This is what most people do and it's not risky over long periods of time.
