Why don't we just focus all the resources in the world to get this motherfucker to earth? If successful everyone could live as neets literally forever.

Introducing great new quantities of gold would make its price go really low.
Like the others said, it would be just like printing more money (a move perpetuated by shitty third world countries' populist governments like mine to give out lots of welfare plans for example, wich causes inflation)
I do think that if we had the technology to achieve that, we would be almost all living above today standards.

We can just park it in orbit and agree to only bring small chunks down to earth at a time. Just enough to pay for everyone's daily expenses to live a normal life or maybe upper middle class. It is enough gold for that even if the gold price drops a little I think

If gravel was rare then we could use that in exactly the same way as gold.

There are also all of the logistical issues that come from this, the odds of a successful mining mission are low, but costs high, so too much risk.

You say it's a gold asteroid, but I notice your graphic doesn't mention gold. Are you sure it isn't iridium? That's known to be resent in some asteroids.

Iridium is much scarcer than gold, but most of what's mined is actually put to use (unlike gold where most of it is stupidly locked away). Because of its scarcity, plenty of alternatives have been developed - but the alternatives generally AREN'T technically better, so demand would certainly increase if supply increased.

I don't know about that man, high culture and high art are universally derided by much of the lower classes, and even when you ask the people who own the art it seems to be more about storage of value than anything else. You're simply trying to store your money in a form other than liquid assets, so that it can be moved, stored or transferred more efficiently or without being taxed.

That is the case for some art and some owners. But it certainly isn't the case with the Mona Lisa.

You're simply trying to store your money in a form other than liquid assets, so that it can be moved, stored or transferred more efficiently or without being taxed.
Liquid assets are far easier to move or store - and usually easier to transfer without tax.
