Is standing desk worth it?

Yes, but pair it with a good anti-fatigue mat and a sit/stand type stool to give your back a rest every once in awhile. I've been standing at my workstation for almost 2 years and haven't ever put my desk in the down position (mainly because i've used the underside as a place to store more crap) I've got more energy and feel less tired when standing.

>> No.16223733

Definitely. More concentration, plus sitting lowers your lifespan.

Just improvise one (by stacking some shit) and try it out. You will quickly realize how superior it is. However, you should ideally alternate between a sitting and standing battlestation. Don't just do one or the other.

There's no going back once you've taken the standpill.

the higher you use it, the more wobbly it is, especially if it is only a 2-post version.

if you insist on using a standing desk in an office environment, pair it with a really obnoxious chair, since you are already committed to looking like a world class asshole.

If you work alone it's ok and advisable. If you work in a cublicle farm forget about it. You standing will make the other workers nervous.

Nope. It just changes the problem.
The problem is lack of motion, and after trying the most expensive ergonomic chairs and other things like standing desks, the ONLY thing that helps my (serious) back pain is setting a timer and religiously taking some exercise every 20 mins.

I've had a standing desk for 5 years. I haven't raised it up in almost 5 years. I think I stood at it 3 or 4 times when I first got it. totally worth it.

Are you fat and overweight? Hoping the standing desk would inspire you to change?
Or were you already prone to standing and pacing so the standing desk was to allow you to do what you already do naturally?

Standing desks aren't for everybody...

I'm not fat or overweight. desu, the issue I'm finding right now is that fully extended, by desk feels like the right height, but my monitors are too low by 4-5 inches. I'm not able to raise them up anymore though.

That's it. I'm done with this board.

For the misinformed:

Standing desks are a sale strategy. It's why clerks are not sitting. Being on the same level as customers generates more sales. This is fucking basic business.

in my last startup, we didn't have enough money to get everyone those fancy herman miller aeron chairs that are so abundant in SV....and if we got cheap chairs, then it made us look unfunded. So, we bought all the wagies standing desk (which were really prep tables from a restaurant close out) and told them "it was for their health". good times.

I give you the redpill on them. Had them at my investment banking internships, the VC firm I worked at half a year and at home.

I used them only briefly for standing at the beginning. Now the table is Always set at my comfy level of 78cm which is slightly higher than the normal 72cm that midgets use.
