I did. I had 500 BTC I was just going to hold on to. Think I paid like $100 at the time, bought them on some site that sold various virtual currencies for online games. Thought it might be fun to have some "magical internet money" lulz. I had no idea what i was doing, never bothered to back anything up and when the hard drive died, I had forgotten all about it. Just threw them away with the dead laptop.

Biggest regret of my life by far, has haunted me daily and been a huge driver of my depression for a decade

Bitcoin back then sounded just too much like some weird scam with bad websites and there was not alot of info around how to store them correctly also you had to hold them for a long time imagine holding thru 10, 100 and 1000 dollars
