I bought SOXL the moment before it dipped yesterday, my alarm clock didn't go off so I missed 2 sweet entries in the stock market this morning and missed a massive upside entry in the futures market. I sold the SOXL at a loss right before it ran up another few points and I sold a capitulated on a couple of shorts I had laying around right before they would have gone into profit.

I bought it two days ago because I think it will go up from here and I have not sold. Does that answer your question? The initial drop came because the chart technicals were back, earnings missed slightly and market took that as an excuse to dump it. It started to rebound but then the CEO got canned so it gapped down a second time. I expect to hear very little out of them until they nominate a new CEO and I think the share price will float upwards in the mean time.

Just bring up a few, plow through several charts and compare what the indicator said against what the chart did at important junctures. we should be more clear:
UNCERTAINTY about the trade deal is what caused the market downturns. Once the time actually passes and the sky doesn't fall, the trade war concerns lose their sting. People still have jobs, people still buy things, companies still sell things and make money. Earnings are mostly stable or growing, the world didn't end. There wasn't a massive escalation that saw US/China trade effectively shut down by >50% tariffs. So the reason people are calmer now is because uncertainty around the trade situation seems much less. People won't be shitting their pants over headlines, unless it is some doomsday escalation type of thing, which seems very unlikely at this time.

to summarize: the "on the table", announced aspects of the trade deal were never the black cloud. The main problem that investors felt was the possibility of things getting much worse. That didn't happen, things seem to have stabilized.

Remember Trump is still a lose cannon, the probes into the big tech companies are still in play, and Warren is still agitating to tax everything that moves. So the focus is no longer on the tradewar, we seem to have found a reasonable "plateau" where neither Beijing or Washington wants any more "pain", and they are looking for "gain".
Any "no new deal" news these days shouldn't be too painful for the market. It's the status quo, as long as things don't escalate we're gucci.

That being said I'm buying VXX calls at these price levels because under 12.20 on the VIX seems too low to me, I like the risk/rewards possibilities that I'm seeing here.

the divergence in the displayed value is a result of the spread opening way up as the volume goes to zero (IE, someone has a sell order at 0.38 and no one has any buy orders so it shows 0.19 price even though you can't sell the option for any price)

Interesting, seems the FDA will release the topics they will discuss with AMRN during the 14th meeting on the 12th for public viewing. So this could be a very positive thing for the stock and shareholders, knowing just what is under discussion. Note; this does not mean if things go good that the drug is greenlit yet, that happens during another meeting on Dec 28th. However drugs that pass this point, the odds of getting Greenlit go up to 70%.

Correct, things will be very wild now till Dec 28th. Also the window between the Nov 15th and Dec 27th is a perfect spot for the Holy Buyout to take place. Consider: Nov 14th AMRN passes the meeting. Odds now shoot up to 70% of getting Greenlit. Big Pharma knows this. Big Pharma also knows that once AMRN becomes legit on Dec 28th the cost to buy them goes up biggly. AMRN will have all the cards then. The Deal won't be formally done till sometime in 2020 so share holders won't get their Fat Bags till then.

The Nov 14th meeting is kinda the FDA's way of telling Big Pharma. "Hey we're seriously gonna greenlit this drug later so if you want to buy them without paying out the ass later now's your chance". No joke, the Profit AMRN can rake in is obscene, hell all it takes is one look at the latest earning report to get a peak at what is possible. So once they get greenlit there is nothing to stop the Profit from flowing in for 10 years (after 10 years drugs get "bargain binned") So they can basically after Dec 28th, stick a gun in Big Pharma's face and say "we want this much" and Big Pharma won't have any choice but to pay up if they want the Drug bad enough.

Oh and there's this little thing; the average price for AMRN is $30 per share. The high is $50. Course this all depends on what happens during the next weeks/month. This is going by what is known now. After they gain steam (Profit rolls in) expect those numbers to climb. So in a buyout point, assuming the average price of 30 you'd get x 2 the amount so 60 per share. The higher the stock price is when the deal is done, the fatter your green bag gets.

>> No.16189438

>>16189364
So in my case at $60 per share @ 800 shares I'd get 48,000. If the stock hits $50 per when the deal is done I'd get $100 per. So 80,000. Either one is fine with me. Considering that my whole salary for a year before tax is only 27,000

The good bit is that the price of the drug the consumer would pay for is cheap as hell ($9 for 30 day supply). AMRN is not like most company's. They've been raking in profit like mad all year long due to the high risk version of the drug selling like crack. The high risk version is already FDA green lit. There is no such thing as bad publicity, so even if this thing goes south, they've gained even more exposure. Countless docs/ health groups/etc have all come out in support of AMRN. Not one bad thing from any of them. This current situation is all about getting a broad expanded use version of the drug out there for the common people to take to combat having "the big one" while they down those Triple Baconators

Correct. This is the reason stocks can spike really high or drop really low very fast. Say, there is news that immediately makes the company significantly more valuable in the eyes of investors. Say a biopharma lab has an effective new cancer treatment. Suddenly there is an overwhelming number of buyers and few sellers. Sellers move their asking prices waaaaaay the fuck up, if people still buy at the inflated price the sellers then move the price up again, and so on. Simple supply an demand. High demand + low supply = skyrocketing price. and vice versa.

I tried reading some articles to cheer me up and prove me wrong. They all pointed to how the yield curve is no longer inverted, the Dow and S&P are at an all time high... the coast is clear they say. >Reuters: September 2007

>A long-time favorite, the yield curve, or spread between interest rates on the 10-year Treasury note and the three-month bill, has a reputation for forecasting recessions as much as 18 months ahead.

>That measure had been signaling a downturn for many months, but a surprisingly deep cut in official U.S. interest rates on September 18 stoked inflation fears and drove up rates on the 10-year note, erasing the curve’s recession forecast.

September 2007 was the top of the equities market during the previous cycle.

https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-economy-yieldcurve/as-us-recession-looms-yield-curve-looks-prescient-idUSN3018493920080130

>January 31, 2008
>As US recession looms, yield curve looks prescient

>The U.S. economy expanded at just a 0.6 percent rate in the fourth quarter, and for all of 2007 posted its weakest showing in five years.

>Until recently, though, the recent inversion of the yield curve had been dismissed as a fluke, despite four of the past five such episodes having preceded the last four U.S. recessions.

> It wasn’t just Wall Street that believed the yield curve’s years of service as a recession indicator were due for a forced retirement. Both Federal Reserve Chairmen Ben Bernanke and his predecessor Alan Greenspan embraced the idea.

>“I would not interpret the currently very flat yield curve as indicating a significant economic slowdown to come,” Bernanke said in his first speech to Wall Street as head of the Fed in March 2006.

*note* For the Fed to acknowledge the predictive nature of the indicator would result in an immediate self fulfilling prophesy.

>A decline in earnings growth in 2007 would be the first since 2001, a recession year when earnings declined 15.79 percent. Richard Bernstein, chief investment strategist at Merrill Lynch, has noted that, even for the unbelievers of the curve’s macro forecasting abilities, its hunch for a profits recession is foolproof.
