Actually I bought a ring recently and they offer different types of certificates one from the jewelry store and another from a third party. When I was in Colorado a few years ago I stopped at some flea markets with my girl and people mine gems alot out there and they sell large quantities of them cheap...you can get a shoe box full for 1 or 2 hundred bucks...you can tell they're not top gems, but the colors and sparkle of some of them are really cool and I was thinking like you and wanted to buy a couple shoeboxes full and bring them home and get a small chest and load it up with those gems and junk silver but my gf talked me out of it :(
