I'm tall (6'2) and looking back I think my height has benefited in many ways throughout my life. I've always been socially awkward, and perhaps being tall was the one reason I wasn't bullied too much in school and had some decently hot girlfriends. If you can afford the surgery and if you're young enough to recover from it and life a healthy life, go ahead.

I've considered it too. There are a lot of drawbacks, in that your legs will be fragile for the rest of your life, you will have scars, you may look weirdly proportioned, etc. But studies have shown that taller people simply have better opportunities at life, love, careers, respected more, etc. It is a psychological thing for both you and how people perceive you, same as how good looking people are treated better than ugly people. That's just the way of the world.

If YOU want to do it, fine, It will be a huge self-confidence booster. But know that it will come with a lot of pain and I don't think you should do it for approval of others, do it only for yourself.
