Is ledger nano the best way to store linkies and other shit coins?

>> No.16092207

>>16092186
It's only worth it for the price lock feature, ironically the nano S is better than the X in this regard

damn just bought an X today..

Why is the nano S better than the X for price locking?

>> No.16092294

>>16092270
nano X supports only bitcoin for locking, don't ask me why
I heard you can play with the firmware to restore locking support also for ETH and ERC20 tokens but honestly I wouldn't risk it unless you really know what you are doing, just get a nano S that is also cheaper

no problem, I learned it the hard way
by the way it goes without saying that price locking is a double edged sword

What does it mean to price lock a crypto?

>> No.16092454

>>16092379
>What does it mean to price lock a crypto?
basically you "freeze" your account at a certain price; you cannot move your tokens until you "unfreeze" it. When you do, you will get an amount of tokens corresponding to the total $usd value you had before freezing.

I mean, it kinda does what you expect it to do.

now, if the price increases from the time you freeze to the time you unfreeze, you are screwed, you will basically get a lower amount of tokens (the rest is put in a locking reservoir)

>> No.16092472

>>16092454
So it's only effective if you expect the price to go down? That sucks

>> No.16092509

>>16092454
That's interesting. I guess it's too late to do that right now

Correct

>> No.16092607

Price locking is actually super effective. It's how so many anons have made it. That's why they call it locking in gains.

don't bother buying either right now, locking in a bull market is stupid. by the time we are at a new all time high they could have patched the x to work with all coins, its the better device besides that one flaw.

yeah, neither the nano x or s support locking ETH natively. Both however need a different firmware mod to restore the full functionality, and the x is arguably a lot simpler to crack open in that regard.

Say you locked in your price at $18K, and let's assume the price is $9K currently. Why would anyone honor your price tag of 1.0 BTC for the price of 2?
