Crypto slutz.
I have a fundamental question to ask you.

So when an individual buys the stock of a company, they own part of the company. That's well understood.

When a person or company makes a crypto ERC20 token or even a minable coin, what exactly do you own when you buy it? Why does the value of the coin go up or down if its not tied to the value of a company or thing? Sergay could make a trillion from a "partnership" - why would that necessarily make his coin go up? The two are not even related fundamentally

A company's stock goes up when it is more valuable or it's future value is perceived to be increased - and because stocks are a literal unit of equity there is undisputable value to them. Can the same be said for cryto?

AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHA

how fucking new are you. the last decade alone in the stock market has been fueled solely by QE and buybacks. fundamental value does not exist in the stock market anymore.

I own a coin, which has a value based on its utility and market demand. How do you not understand this basic shit?

it depends on the value proposition and the tokenomics. The general idea is that if the coin becomes adopted, then the demand of the coin would increase and supply remains constant or relatively unchanging, the coin goes up in price.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBS7r8ExjF4 this is a good video discussing the value proposition presented by Ethereum 2.0. Essentially, ether is potentially the best form of money in the current crypto ecosystem because it will be a capital generating asset like real estate, a store of value asset like gold, and a consumable asset like oil.

Chainlink token value would be decimated in such event; however, the project would continue to operate. Node operators would increase the cost to use their service proportionate to the increase in the supply. The only people left holding the bag would be holders before the supply increase. This is no different than stock issuance

Well, if I buy enough common stock of a company I can basically appoint whoever I want, to the board including myself. Then hire the CEO. Aside from that, when the company makes money I can have a share of the dividend. What value does a crypto create that I am able to take a part of as an owner?
>>16058177
>demand, utility
I understand it has a price based on market demand, that's very simple. But if you're telling me these coins are supposed to have utility, and the core value (and demand) is based on that, the price should be 0, if it's supposed to have a use-case that's not a store of highly volatile value, trading and speculation on said value - which is very circular.

This is the answer I am looking for and I agree with you. Should one of these coins actually perform its function on a large scale I can see the value off ownership and utility. However I don't see any functional largely adopted coins anywhere.
No one is using the currency coins as currency. No one is using the utility coins based on their utility. There's just a fuckton of speculation.

A partnership would increase demand for the coin and hence cause the price to increase.

Provably false. You can go on JM Bullion right now ans buy gold bars with a bitcoin. It's being adopted quickly, but it doesn't mean that it will stay adopted. Really the only thing we have to ask ourselves is what makes BTC better than cash. The only real answer right now volatility.
