What happened to internships and or networking? Dude, did you honestly miss out on the entire meaning of attaining higher education? This means you literally are BACK at the same level of social value before you were essentially worth nothing without the degree. Nice going, Austin!

My (18) coworker (34) graduated without any internships. He took some months to apply, failed some interviews, then he started working at a grocery store full-time. He still works there

It took me 6 months before I landed a job. After one year I got a 5k raise, then my boss quit I got promoted to his job and a 15k raise. Just negotiated another 8k raise as I come up on three years here. No internship or networking in college and shitty grades. We’re all gonna make it

I make double what I made 5 years ago when I got my first fulltime job, but minimum wage is now $15k when I was making less than that for the first year I was working. Just fuck my shit up

$15/hr not $15k. I made literally 12 bucks an hour when I started working. Now subhumans working at popeyes make more than that

That sounds so scummy. So you meet up with people only to get a job from them? That's worse than theft imo.

You fell for the college/university meme.

High paid jobs are reserved for those with charisma, who can play the social field. I don't give a fuck how smart you thought you were, this isn't a meritocracy. Soz

i feel your pain retard, never really bothered to do internship while studying, didn't really needed the money so i never got a part time job while studying.

Now i am 30 and have moved back in with my parents, in my old room.
I applied for a Burger King job the other day, got instantly rejected ( i suppose i failed the personality test they made me take online).

desu, i think it is a bit unfair, no one ever told me that these things are kind of important, it never occurred to me that taking some courses in X instead of during an internship would be a death sentence. Like wtf?

Graduated CS two years ago and haven't had a job in my field because I got caught up in shitcoins and made a lot of money. Honestly used a lot of Python and web programming doing it though so at least I have employable skills still. The one thing you learn the hard way is that there is no point actually applying for jobs. You need to network and be guaranteed jobs by social connections. Applying is for the goys and you will be poor forever.

>> No.16030725

It’s the best economy ever though. Everyone is hiring. Try retail!

>go to university for biochem, develop crippling chronic illness that lasts for 3rd and 4th year of college
>miss most lectures, etc. but graduate with a 3.8 gpa
>literally no networking done and only did 6 months of research
>Super sick for like another year
>Can't find a job that pays more than $16/hour so I just sell shit on eBay like 10 hours per week and made $15k this year so far

Feels good not to wageslave but I'm basically screwed because if I make more money I won't get free health insurance. Not that anyone will hire me now anyways.

Are you retarded. What shit University did you attend? Put together a nice resume and head into the career center. It's literally their job to help you find work. Bring some treats, learn something about them and be generally amazing to the staff there. You will have a job in no time.

Took me seven months to get an unpaid internship as an "audition" to get hired to open position. They kept recruiting while I interned and gave the position to some chick with a law degree (not even a J.D.-preferred position), which I guess beat my one degree. Luckily I made myself valuable to my supervisor and he agitated for room in the budget to hire me. First day of salaried work ~10 months after graduation. Supported myself with night and weekend gigs in the meantime.

Hang in there OP
