I do insurance inspections. I drive around to photograph and measure houses or businesses and submit the info to the insurance companies. I am 28 and have been doing it for 10 years. It is pretty flexible but absolutely kills my vehicle and I am stuck with cars loans because I need reliable transportation since I'm in the car for 6-9 hours a day. Usually on the road 3-4 days a week, work from home 1 day to submit all the paperwork. Was kind of comfy in early 20s and I make ~40k-45k before taxes as I'm paid by piece. I don't enjoy the work though, very tedious and I feel like I'm running perpetual fetch quests. I just started going back to college to get a bachelors in business administration or something but I don't know what job I want to do.

Is it too late for me, frens? I'm not a brainlet but also not a genius and maths is my worst subject so STEM is out of reach for me. Am I doomed to this eternal wage cucked? I used to have such hope but I'm kind of a doomer now.

I'm a technical lead. When the company hires technicians with no experience or more than a passing interest in computers I have to teach them basic skills. I run the larger projects like OS rollouts and I do all the troubleshooting and root cause analysis for user level issues that crop up. I'm not eligible for bonuses based on saving the company money because im not a dev. Even if I save more money than the devs do. They got me to take a "promotion" in 2011 promising more money for becoming a network admin. More money turned out to be $40/month and my new supervisor told me that right before telling me I was now on 24/7/365 call. I spent the next several years looking for a better job but it turned out I was already making more than average for my actual skill set. In fact in 3 years I only found one position that actually paid more but they pulled it right after I applied. The company eventually needed a tech lead more than a network admin so I'm back. Even making more than average inflation is screwing me and I fall a little further behind every year with groceries being my single biggest monthly expense. More than my mortgage and debt service. I did everything right. Got skills got a job didn't take on massive debt. Bought a house I could actually afford and never did vacations or stupid things like jet skis. But I'm still going to be broke my whole life. I managed to save $1000 over the last year but then both cars broke down so its all gone. I've tried starting side businesses, trading crypto, forex. Even breeding dogs. Nothing works. My wife is a Christian fatalist so she wont help with getting ahead. She says we should be happy with what we have and trying for something better is a sin. Or something. Oh, I got screwed out of my retirement. So I can't even look forward to that. I live for my kids. I would have drank myself to death by now without them.
