15972182 No.15972182 [Reply] [Original]

I am trying to figure out the best city to live in in my thirties to stabilise myself. (Currently based in London).

I have heard great things about Stockholm and San Diego.

Is San Diego really that much greater than Stockholm?

I need to hear from /biz/ people as I don't want to screw up any future chances of success.

Not as many as you think, cost of living is too high for them

Even less than spics, again cost of living is too high

True, but they are mostly consolidated to downtown
>crackheads
Again, mostly just downtown

I currently live on the east coast US but I was stationed in San Diego for two years in the Navy, and I have travelled throughout Europe many time, including Stockholm. Here's my take for what its worth:
Weather is a bigger plus in San Diego...its literally rated best weather in the world by many organizations, but it really doesn't have four seasons like Stockholm does.
People: Stockholm really had a lot more 'brown' in it than I thought but San Diego is really really brown lol. But both places the people were friendly, and your choices for girls were good in both places.
Business: This is up to you...Stockholm is a capital and has better access to more regional markets and Europe is a big market...huge plus for Stockholm. San Diego is just an ok town in that respect, nothing special.
Food. European food is better, can't really dispute that.

All in all it depends on what your business interests are..good luck.

Moved from one of those to Nashville, love Nashville. Only don’t love living in a redneck state where they don’t care about school systems or other societal goods (police, roads, etc) but the city itself is great. I would love to pay income tax and fix the shit I don’t like and it’d be better than any of those cities of which I have been to all.

To OP - I’d pick San Diego. Stockholme gets depressing as fuck when there’s no sunlight most of the day and it’s bitter cold. San Diego every day of the year it’s bliss to step outside your home. And if you start to think it’s too small of a city (you probably won’t), LA is a pretty quick trip away.

Unironically sat in a bar in Stockholm right now fren. I have somewhat extensive knowledge of Sweden as a bong (speak conversational Swedish) and would not recommend moving here. I have thought long and hard about that myself. As other anons have suggested if you’re looking for a city in Sweden then Gothenburg is much more suited for a number of reasons - not perfect but a good move.

Let me know if you have any questions

hi fren

I am currently sexing a hot blonde from copenhagen after deciding I want a scandi wife.

I have been a bunch of times to copenhagen but keep wondering whether Stockholm in Sweden, is better as I keep hearing about it on /int/

I am very close to moving permanently to copenhagen even though I dont speak the language but I love forests, being a Joe rogan enthusiast, I was thinking Sweden with its forests and also apparently hot blondes, would be the perfect place for me.

I am just sick of living in London and need a change.

What are your thoughts? thank you

Fren, first things first pace yourself. If you’re interested in moving to these parts (as I am too - I also decided I wanted a scandi wife long ago) then weigh up all possibilities as it helps in the long run. This particular sea is not short of immaculate fish, but those fish get EXTREMELY clingy if you manage to break them down - so choose wisely. I have made, and learnt from particular mistakes in the past so I’m really trying to vet harder these days.

Have you visited Sweden before? Copenhagen and Sweden - even Malmö are much different in my opinion, as is Stockholm, Gothenburg etc.

I too love forests, hunting (as I’m from rural south west of England - detest large cities on the whole such as London), skiing, martial arts and the relaxed way of life out here. Used to be a big joe rogan fan too (I’m more conspiracy minded).

One big piece of advice is visit these places first for a long weekend. Get the vibe for each city. It’s hard if you don’t have contacts here but once you do it can be a fantastic place to be - even in the cities - mixed with the larger rural wilderness around this region.

Also, if you want to move to Stockholm then make sure that you're rich enough to live in one of the northern municipalities - Täby, Danderyd or Lidingö. That's where top-tier quality of life in Stockholm is, aka lowest amount of crime and highest percentage of ethnic swedes while still having easy access to the city center.

Ive lived in San Diego and Oslo (neighbour capital to Stockholm, but in Norway). And mate - those are two widely different cities, so weird dichotomy to choose from.

But in any case - a lot is different, everything from the people, culture and weather, to job possibilities and women. If you're an extroverted and outgoing, fun person who loves to surf and chill in the sun in your free time, San Diego is your best bet. Stockholm has real seasons, with a lot of shitty weather at times. At the same time, it's possible to do more different things outside - like skiing, hiking in the mountains etc.
The Americans are really easy to speak with, and in my experiences very friendly. Scandinavians are a lot more introverted, and tend to prefer staying with their closest social circle. They are really friendly and reliable relations when you get to know them though.

I dont know. I chose to settle down in Oslo, and I love it a lot. I miss San Diego, but mostly for my memories and future vacation purposes.

Lived in Stockholm for two years, then moved to London and lived there for a year.

Despite living in Mayfair and living a meme high-class lifestyle London is leagues below Stockholm in terms of standard of living and lifestyle. Your money goes much further in Sweden than it does in the UK, and despite what /pol/-tards are saying Stockholm is incredibly safe apart from tiny cultural pockets like Rinkeby and Akalla. If you live in Östermalm or Vasastan you will GUARANTEED have a fantastic lifestyle that is leagues above the shitty London one and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

However, the one thing that Stockholm falls short on is that since Sweden in general is pretty /comfy/ there isn't a very high level of ambition, and doing business can be a bit more difficult in terms of networking and just convenience. I cannot overemphasis this point, doing business in London is incredibly easy and the government there are much more capitalist than the Swedish cuck social democratic government. In this regard London is far superior for business, as it is after all most likely the capital of the world.

With all this being said it really depends on your priorities and what you want to do with your life. If you want to relax, earn a decent but modest wage, and just have an all-round comfy living in a first-world city then Stockholm should be up your alley. If you want to become incredibly rich and make it in business then I think London and other major cities are better for this.

Assuming Stockholm doesn't go under in the major monetary crash that is coming, I could really see myself buying a house in Djursholm or something and raising a family there, because I frankly think Stockholm is probably the best city in the world to raise kids in.

As for San Diego, I don't really like American culture and there are likely far more serious problems in that city than the minuscle ones in Stockholm. Surfing and living the outdoors life is nice, but you can do that in Stockholm too (except the surfing maybe) because it will only take you roughly an hour to get into the wilderness as the entire city is built on a beautiful archipelago with water and forested islands everywhere.

I would 100% live in Stockholm again if the government got its shit together and slashed taxes heavily to encourage more business, but political priorities are focused elsewhere at the moment (particularly the environment and immigration) and I'm afraid middle-class Swedes are culturally against people making it large in business and I cannot see any major tax reform happening unless a Margaret Thatcher figure comes into play and totally reforms the system. Radical change is needed especially because Swedes are brainwashed into mediocrity in school, so I think the viability of Stockholm for settlement is dependent on the Swedish establishments reaction to the coming financial crisis (liberalisation vs. more socialism) that will hit the middle-class particularly hard as they are overleveraged in the housing market at the moment.

As the anon above me mentioned, there is a significant brain drain going on in Sweden at the moment due to the unfriendly business environment as well as the taxes, but it's not as bad as it could be yet. It all comes down to the elections in two years.

America is a fair bit worse off as they have a democratic establishment literally advocating a wealth tax and comprehensive wealth redistribution - not even the social democrats in Sweden are this bad (the former communist party advocates this, but no one really takes them seriously and that is reflected in the polls.)

AMA about Sweden and Stockholm I guess.
