Alright lads, let's have a thread on starting an actual business.
However, let's make the topic on min/maxing gains. Fuck "Passion", let's talk about

>Businesses with HIGH margins
>Low Capital requirements
>Low skill requirements
>Scalable
Obviously, software will be one of the top suggestions due to all the benefits, but it requires a certain level of skill so let's try finding hidden gems

>resources
contact your local small business development center, they should give you consultants to see what your city lacks, what the competition is, etc, basically do all the heavy lifting market research for you.

I was thinking of going into the camping gear business. It will take some skill and large initial investment but im pretty sure companies like north face are selling their shit for 200% margin probably.

The highest margin lowest cost business you can make is convincing people that they have a problem that they need to solve and that only you can solve it.

Women & children are great demographics because they're impulsive shoppers and don't make purchasing decisions based on their ego like men tend to.

Yes the beauty product industry is excellent in terms of margins, the issue is how competitive it is. I think if you could create a normie enough brand you could milk it easily.

Wendies or other fast food chains like it. They make a killing and the way they have it set ensures that all the franchises make bank. You could even try going to a local fast food company and trying to expand territory.

Low margins though, depending on how many you own. Plus, depending on the fast food franchise, you may have to employ a significant investment.

Yeah from what I've read in Australia you need at least 1 million in liquid assets ( cash ) as a requirement, and not all of them are money printers, I think it's about location.

I'd be very careful about franchises, if you've got a good idea, basically selling tasty food, copy as much as you can and build up suppliers equipment from scratch, look up Retail Food Group horror stories

https://www.smartcompany.com.au/business-advice/franchising/high-profile-franchise-horror-stories-reveal-rich-lessons-franchisees/

A lot of the head corporations business model is to make profit from selling franchises to take boomers life savings through sales and fees, not selling a good business.

If you sell any decent amount of gear, it will be copied and on AliBaba in a week.

China is THE issue anyone faces, making something. They copy EVERYTHING. They scour the internet for other people's ideas. If you make even a little noise, they'll buy some of your product and clone it. Seen it happen 3 times. All 3 times, they lost everything.

You have to be able to make something that's too expensive to ship from China to avoid it. Or something they can't make, because they can't get the resources, etc.

Serious answer: pick one. You're cherry picking best case scenarios, and trying to shove them all together, and it doesn't work that way.

>contact your local small business development center, they should give you consultants to see what your city lacks, what the competition is, etc, basically do all the heavy lifting market research for you.

That's not how it works, at all. Nobody is going to hold your hand and tell you what kind of business to start, and there are no "consultants" of that kind. You want market research, you have to pay for it, and that's top dollar stuff - and they'll sell that research to the big chains and conglomerates who are looking for spots on the map to plunk down another Starbucks or Subway.

If you want to start a franchise, you go to the people selling the franchise. When you pay up front for your franchise license, they MIGHT give you some location ideas, but most of the time they hold back the really prime spots for the bigger whale customers, the guys who own multiple franchises already.

If you want to start a small business, go for it. Lots of people do. Some even make it. But nobody is going to hand you anything, you get to do what everyone else does - use your number one resource - you - to provide the labor to get it up and running, and then you build from there - or fail and start over. But nobody is going to give you anything, be it location, market research, equipment, or anything else. It's all on YOU - and that's why most people don't try, because it's a LOT of fucking work.

Lack of equipment. I used to work for a construction chemicals firm so I know about the initial investment required to produce that shit. The issue is even the start up capital to produce those types of goods for a test run is significant. And that money is probably better spent gambling on the BTC halvening. With enough start up capital I can put together a lab and a small manufacturing line, then see if I can get MILFs to buy my anti aging treatments.

Guess I'll have to live that life too so I have awesome skin.

It'd have to rely on marketing to take off. honestly would be better as a hobby at first. I just like making quality products. I was pretty good at it. The lotion thing would be cool but I'd be okay with making say, artisan soaps, solid and liquid. Or crafting a beer or wine. I'm also very good at cooking; chemistry tends to help with that.

I dunno. At some point I'm just going to tinker with various products and make stuff I would use, then offer them up for sale and see if people like what I like. I can tell you they like my food, and construction firms liked my products. So.. fuck, I think I just need to start tinkering.

Has anyone here bought a site on flippa or somewhere else that was actually making money?

I thought about it but if I want to buy something that pays me, I suspect real estate will have less opportunities for dishonest sellers to misrepresent the asset they're selling me.

The tax benefits of real estate also blow business out of the water.

I walked into a sorry little hibachi place this evening with very low expectations. Poor presentation, dingy lighting, lots of seats but hardly anyone sitting and eating despite it being dinnertime on a weekend.

Turns out, the place's a well-oiled machine. Small menu, streamlined prep, very tasty. Must've served thirty people in the time I was sitting in there - lots of carry out, which I guess is why it was so empty. Seriously considering pitching the owner makeover/expansion funding. He's clearly doing some things exactly right and others exactly wrong.

I've been to those meeting, for a goof. They're pointless and useless. Funding? They literally just show you how to look up banks online, and EIL5 loans to people with no credit.
But, when you also consider he's treating an actual business like a get rich scheme, with his "low investment cost, high profit margin" nonsense, pretty sure this is a lazy poo who tried drop shipping, lost his ass, and now wants /biz to find his next get rich scheme with low effort.
In other words, typical /biz nonsense.

Anon my man after re-reading your highly informative thread I’ve thought of the perfect business for you! In my opinion its definitely a “hidden gem” and works well with your “fuck passion” attitude.
It’s actually fairly prevalent here in SEA and I’m honestly shocked more people posting these threads daily for the last 5 years havent worked it out yet.
It requires minimal capital and you can start with limited skill because you’ll improve on the job. More skill also = more pay. Scaleability might be an issue for you depending on the traffic and tastes of the area you live in but it’s very situational.

Basically your gonna need a couple hundred dollars to get your foot in the door with this but the money will start rolling in fairly fast. First your gonna need a gym membership, groomed appearance and some decentish clothes to wear. Once you’ve got that sorted start posting adds on gumtree, Craigslist or similar sites offering your service to suck cocks for $50 a shot. Essentially $100+ an hour and you don’t even have to leave your own home anon! You can also try scaling up and doing some blow bangs once your skills improve netting you $200+ p/h. Similarly your local government / city will be more than willing to offer you free check ups (depends on health system) and may even direct you to more profitable neighbourhoods!
Godspeed.

I run a small print shop from my basement. I can easily turn a roll of $150 vinyl and a $100 roll of laminate into 15k. I bought a printer (new) $455 monthly payment and used laminator for 1k. The only other supplies I needed was a good 4ft ruler, some blades and a $250.cutting mat. The work is easy setting up files is easy to learn and printing is easy just don't skip the maintenance and due diligence. I have tried building a website and competing with the big boys but 240k AdWords budget isn't happening any time soon. Right now I'm focused on getting clients in the events and film industry. They literally do not give a shit how much u charge as long as it's perfect and u can produce in impossible turn around times. I have one regular client that puts 2-3 k a week in my pocket and business has slowly snowballed over the last year. With minimal work put into finding clients I have picked up a few customers that place at least 1 order a month. The most I ever made was 20k in a month and invested about 1k in materials and installers. One day I'll hopefully have my own shop but for the time being I'm happy to work and keep stacking this money on the side. Hopefully in a year I'll have enough to purchase or buy into a company with an allready existing client base. If any anons have a desire for sales and ass kissing drop your burner email.
