That's great as long as you don't get an entire infrastructure collapse and loss of computing as a widespread phenomenon. It's easy to assume Bitcoin will always be there along with the network to do the transaction processing and mining, but if the dollar collapse is catastrophic enough to bring down the United States and everywhere else as a result, you can't assume that it will be around. Precious metals are a hedge if we have to work back from a pre-computing economy. And don't give me bullshit on how we can replicate Bitcoin by doing it all physically and on a smaller scale, it won't work.

And in your case, you can't assume utility essentials like guns, ammo, toilet paper, gas, etc. that will be in good supply to trade and just personally, I really doubt anyone would be trading guns or ammo at all. Which means inevitably, people will need to move off a bartering system because it is highly inefficient when you start rebuilding if the catastrophe is irrecoverable, and that is where precious metals can play a role.

Again, it bears repeating, in the end, whether cryptocurrency or precious metals or stocks, they are all investments in the end and no one investment does it all perfectly. So have some part of everything, which I have done personally.
