Personally, I fud because shilling is cringey and not as fun, and it serves to publicise a coin just as well.

Shilling is too transparent and lame, but amusing fud is a much better way to make someone look into your coin.

Then, of course, sometimes people fud to genuinely try to make people panic sell into their waiting buy orders.

In this present example, fudding from behind a keyboard makes the monkey believe that it is succeeding at hiding the value of a coin. Other examples of deception euphoria can be found on youtube. Just search for any high profile court case or political statement. If the subject is 'supr srs,' they're likely being straight-forward. If they suppress a giant shit-eating grin, they're lieing liars.
