I paid $4000 for a Waltonchain miner. Somehow pulls in about $17 a day but only uses like 50w. Ive been selling off weekly so I suppose the extra $100 a week isnt too bad.

I am mining ETH Classic, which does have a halvening of its own. But with halvening comes price increase. It's not as simple as concluding that an doubling of difficulty means a drop in profitability. If the coin more than doubles in price, you earn more as the miner. Case in point 2017. Miners made progressively more and more until the top, despite the ramp up in difficulty.

GPU mining only works if you have basically free electricity and cheap access to hardware. The serious miners are bordering on fire hazard how they set the systems up from being that tight on supplies. Hate to say it but it probably is easier to sell the cards and buy a thin spread of coins to hold then keep accumulating. I had a small farm and it gave me a headache when random cards kept going off line during the day or fans kept dying (thanks Asus) or when a decent antec PSU blew up and killed a 1070.

I bought each one for an average price of ~$550. The VII retailed for ~$700, so I thought I did well in that sense. I am questioning if I should have gone with NVIDIA instead. I could have been making more money per day with a cheaper rig if I had been mining Grin using 2060s. I just didn't want the headache of having to resell twice as many cards.
