How did we get to this point? In Australia, everyone I know from highschool live with their parents at 26. They are in dead end menial jobs and completely shut out of the skilled labour market, the renting market and have no savings so to speak of.

Everyone at the time I knew was accepted into top-tier universities while I ended up barely passing through. I've seen most of them come back to live with their parents in recent years. Some of them I do see essentially Uber-eat delivery boys/girls or taking on side jobs at the local mall. Its really depressing.

Here in Northern Europe this problem manifests in low birth rates. Instead of encouraging citizens to reproduce more to support a older population, most of our Leftist politicans want to compensate for this by importing people from outside the EU.

A big reason for the problem as I see it, is that few people nowadays are willing to live in the suburbs or countryside, everyone wants to fight for suicideboxes in the city centres. This cranks up real estate to an unsustainable level where people have to stress and dedicate their lives to their carreer and really don’t have resources to consider having children (or a stress-free life, manifests in climbing suicides). The other piece of the puzzle is where traditional values are disappearing (partly due to MSM left lean). Jobs aren’t the issue, at least if you follow global unemployment charts.

A shift in preferences is needed. Why more people won’t choose a happy family life living in a ”not as hip” area and a more sustainable work-life balance is beyond me. It’s really a question of people letting prejudice and materialism affect their life choices to a point where it’s detrimental to society as a whole.
