those Ultimate Collectors kits hold their value well, the original X-Wing sold for something like $150 new back in ~2001, i had one and sold it on ebay around 2010 for $150 used without the box and decals already attached. the new ones still in the box are listed for $500+ online now. the rest of the sets have aged similarly besides the most recent ones that people bought up and hoarded.

I had all these when I was a wee lad. Have no idea what happened to them, probably all went to yard sale or cousins over the years. Used to light fire crackers in the pirate ship cannons. God those times were so simple and feel good fun. I feel bad for kids growing up now. I think from the beginning Lego wanted their toys to appeal to everybody, so they intentionally made the little Lego people be of a neutral yellow color so that anyone could self-insert. As far as modern day goes, the type of energy that went into playing with Legos is now used for playing Minecraft, which parents are perfectly fine with considering how much cheaper Minecraft is than Legos.

Nothing wrong with having fun and maybe indulging a little nostalgia but at the same time this thread is incredibly onions and reddit.
For $500 you can make a drone that actually flies or buy a jet engine. You can buy a 3d printer and print all the parts of your startrek thing. You can buy wood and build a life sized gay startrek thing.

I used to have huge Lego battles, where we would have Starwars Stormtroopers, ATATs, ships, and tons of random infantry with bunkers spreak throughout the house and backyard.
Then me and my brother would begin the attack on the enemy Lego army. We were the secret weapon of one of the Lego forces, because we were giant gundam suits. So we would throw rocks, toss, and smash the enemy bunkers. Some times their missiles would get us, but our repair teams were able to come in their Lego cars and take cover behind us to repair the broken parts so we could get back up and fight.
Can't wait to have kids and let them play with Legos. I wont join unless they want me to, but I'll be very glad to help them build and set up so they can have hours of fun. This is why I want to make it.
