Im 25 and i have been drinking alcohol for over 12 years every weekend. I dont know how people can be social without alcohol or how sober sex even works. Thats how drinking culture is in europe. I had to stop because the hangovers got unbearable and suicidal tier. I used to drink easily every day at 16, now i lay 3 days in bed from a heavy session. Also cocaine came into the mix and that was the nail to my coffin. What should i do lads. Im all alone now. I cut every friend off. I dont know how life even works. How will i ever find joy again. Im close to relapsing.

Probably start with AA, unless you can find God and the will to quit drinking and being a degenerate on your own. But if you go to AA and do the 12 steps, it works, you have to be good at listening to directions from the book though. Good luck, I quit drinking over a year ago, one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I can confidently say that without the help of a higher power, your chance of getting sober is slim to none. I hope you make it fren, alcoholism is real, and many people die from it every single day. God bless you euro anon.

3 months is a good run but nowhere near what you need in order to become happy again. I’d say 6-12 months. You’ve already made it this far. Your brain needs to keep rewiring. Soon mundane shit will interest you. Keep at it

AA is good if you're already somewhat spiritual, but personally leaving AA, outpatient programs, and removing myself from both recovery and drug/alcohol related things did it for me. Psychadelics can honestly help some people.

Anon I also am in the process of getting sober. It's a long and difficult road made harder by the knowledge of how easy it is to relapse and immediately feel good again. Re-establish all your social connections as best you can. They are your lifeline. The longer in a day that you spend inside your own head and with your own feelings, the harder sobriety is--- you can't whiteknuckle it alone and expect it to work. Spending time with other people helps broaden your perspective, getting you outside your head. In a certain sense addiction can be thought of as a disease that withdraws you deep into your own mind and small personal world, and part of recovery is expanding your mind and experience again. Even if you feel like shit doing it and don't want to, ever. Force yourself to go out and see someone every day. If you can't do that, go for a walk for an hour or sit somewhere and read. Just don't be alone and don't stay home for all your free time.

I know this is also hard, but rigorous exercise makes a world of difference. I usually exercise every day and it gives me a mental boost that carries me very far. But when I can't exercise, there is a noticeable difference in my desire to use.

Also, supplements and medication can make a world of difference. For alcoholism, acamprosate can help a lot and is commonly prescribed for reducing the general malaise and discomfort from long-term alcohol abuse. By the way, what you are experiencing is commonly referred to as post-acute withdrawal syndrome. Read more about it.

1g L-tyrosine in the morning taken alone, with no food, can make a big difference in mood and motivation.

Pro tip: make sure you have a nice well rounded meal before you start drinking. Near the end of your night get some greasy food in you, pizza burgers, kabob, etc. Then guzzle some water before you pass out. I usually leave a 1-2 litre water bottle in my bed to drink right before I pass out. You should be good to go the next day. Eggs, especially the yolks, and bananas help with the after affects the next day. Weed might help too, it helps me but it doesn’t work for everyone.

>t. My hangovers were so bad I almost quit drinking and I wasn’t even an alcoholic or abusing alcohol. Until I created this “method”

It took several bad hangovers in succession for me to cut down to 14 drinks a week max. Goal is to only drink on weekends and not get too drunk so I can average 6-8 drinks a week.

>> No.15802040

Maybe you just need to relapse to realize that drinking isn't as great as you're remembering it as. That's what did it for me. I got wasted that one last time and thought to myself, "This doesn't even feel that good. I can't focus on anything. The hangover tomorrow is gonna suck. Fuck this." That was the last time I ever drank.

Learn how to stay calm. Literally. Think of the brain like a muscle and typically the more you try to do something the easier it gets. Your prefrontal cortex will form more neural connections and will make it easier to make rational decisions. Rest & hard work anon
