How do we know they won’t be building on chainlink? The point of link is to have a standard. Credit rating agencies and automated insurance companies can’t operate on their own version of data. Doesn’t make sense in the decentralized space. They need a trusted third party.

Do you retards really not know anything about Chainlink? It's a fucking oracle network. NETWORK. Meaning Chainlink doesn't create all the oracles on the network and other companies can create oracles or smart oracles and can host them on the Chainlink network. Just like Oraclize/Provable creates oracles and hosts them on the Chainlink network. God you fags are so stupid. This is bullish as fuck.

>> No.15784590

>>15784060
This is probably the most annoying gap in people's understanding. Chainlink is not an oracle, it's a network. They are building an oracle for Swift which will connect to the Chainlink network, and they'll no doubt be helping these guys set up theirs to also be connected.

They've said it all before. Enigma said it, oraclize said it, witnet said it, kleros said it, and so it goes on. Its too late for these maggots. The incentive to join is you can make money running a chainlink node. The token is used for collateral. Maybe you're going to use the network to trigger a large payment so you're willing to pay for extra security guarantees. Like a type of insurance. The token can be staked. This is you basically saying I want to be such a high quality node operator, I want my data to be used by any size of company, or organization. I'm going to provide such highly reliable data that I'm willing to put my own money on the line in case anything goes wrong.

On the flip side maybe you want to sell your data but you're an Apple type of company and want to do everything yourself. Problem with this is you become a central point of failure. Will someone do it? Probably. But ChainLink appears to be evolving as the de facto standard on the other side though. Think of Link like the Android of Oracles.
