Your expectations of alts has probably been ruined by 2017. That (especially ETH) was a special set of circumstances that won't happen again. A lot more money will flow into crypto over time than what we saw in 2017, but alts actually have to prove themselves as useful now. Most alts won't survive. I would personally be genuinely surprised if we saw memes/scams moon left and right in the next bull run, but anything is possible in these clown markets.

The oracle problem is the most valuable one in all of crypto. Go back and research if you don't realize this. It's a value proposition worth waiting at least another 2 years for. We are still early as hell, you can see that as a blessing or a curse.

Most of the oracle calls will be for DEFI. Prices. Once you have dozens of oracles providing the top 100 crypto prices renewed every 30 seconds, that'll be 95% of the network activity. Weather, IoT, flights, that'll be very minor stuff. Thousands of nodes, that's a meme, 20 nodes or so will be the regular security approach. Once the network hits that plateau, there won't be any more potential for growth and it'll only be profitable for the 50 or so nodes with the top reputation.
