Selling a call if you don't own the underlying stock is making a bet that it will not reach that price, because if it does, you are on the line for those shares

I buy calls and sell when the underlying goes up, because I can only ever lose the amount I put into the calls and it's generally easier for me to spot an uptrend than a top of a run

I understand you can flip an option without it exercising but I’m confused about exercising options... So let’s say I bought to open a call. What happens when my long call expires? Does it exercise, buying the 100 shares and giving me the profits from the difference of the strike price or do I have to buy the 100 shares and do what I want with them?

What I would suggest is finding those big name stocks like V, DIS, PLNT that are having heavy dips and then buying calls a month out. It's pretty safe, and remember when you hit about 30% profit really think about pulling out instead of trying to hold on for that 200%. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

yield touched 3rd time "resistance(support)" and goin' up again dragging market up with it as correlation is very high in current monetary system. contrary what trump and such wants and believes.

there are now only bad candidates for u.s. president run nobody is stupid enough to want to become a president it seems. warren is horrible with wealth tax and such, trump is better but he still gets many things totally wrong like rates and tariffs. tariffs mostly people see as a scape goat they think china is the reason usa is struggling economically, but china's exports are less than 3% of their gdp is pennies so tariffs are mostly just bogus talk and people should focus on real things

How do I exercise the option if it looks good to do so? Do I ever have to buy the 100 shares and it’ll just give me the profits from doing all that by itself or do I have to buy them myself at the strike price to exercise a long call?

rich people hold plenty cash, and can sell assets or borrow to get more.
but if you have mad assets, it makes sense to finance large real estate purchases. With these interest rates, you should finance the 50m house purchase.

basically you have your wealth management people and your tax people, and you plan out big purchases with their assistance to make sure you do it smart (in terms of taxes, all kinds of loopholes, and preserving allocations)

Well, wealth is built via assets. Businesses are productive, and paper corps are good for tax avoidance. Stocks pay dividends, so with $500k you can pull a $50k per year income just on dividends. Even more if you sell out of a position for profits and then buy into a cheaper stock with similar yields. Rental properties are also good passive income, especially if you have enough money to buy a shit ton and hand em off to a property manager. Lots of ways to maintain wealth without selling assets, but rather with collecting income from several sources.

I first posted about TLRD when it was something like $1 lower than the present after-hours price, and the record date for a dividend payment of $0.18 is a week out. Speaking conservatively, if you bought at $4.50 and sold at $5.00, you'd be up over 11%. When I first posted about my interest in it, I wasn't counting on the recent pump anyway. I joked that it was getting bought out and then shortly after an rumor surfaced that they actually had rejected a $10 per share buyout offer. That was when the share price shot up over $5 and kept running till today. I haven't listened to their call or anything today, but there was a lot of hype leading up to today so it's not surprising that there was a big drop.

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TUMIF

Seriously though, it's just fun to imagine the 100x-ing your money. You're right about the dilution. For example, even just less than a month ago they announced a issuance of over 7.69 million units, which consist of 1 share and a warrant to buy an additional share good for two years. For comparison Charles Schwab lists the oustanding shares as 16.89 million.

I take back everything good I ever said about TLRD. They SUSPENDED the dividend like that snake Michael Burry told them to. This totally contravenes my investment thesis that TLRD is good because high dividend yields are the best (HDYPISSDMM). This may end up being for the best, and they very well may continue to return capital to shareholders through buybacks, but I have to admit now that I was wrong and rescind my recommendation.

I've seen people who had dmt solution emulsified into thc oil cartridges, never tried it myself. I'd be wary of those given they're black market produced and the recent vitamin E scare (real cause of vape death, not nicotine). Also DMT powder readily vaporizes in a normal chinese dry herb vape, the kind you use for finely ground weed.
I've never tried either of these methods though, just heard they work. I stick with the oil burner/meth pipe + butane torch personally

>recent vitamin E scare (real cause of vape death, not nicotine)
I KNOW
THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE RETARDS MAKING PUBLIC POLICY

I don't expect Trump to know a damn thing about science, but all the scientists are saying is basically that they KNOW there's a problem with the vitamin E, but that not ALL the samples they've gathered were THC. And so what? So some of the vapers had real Juul pods, there. So they can't rule it out. Because they're scientists, they're being really cautious with their statements of facts, but they should still make it clear that there's an absence of evidence that anyone who's died has died because of a Juul pod.

>>15561125
Wow... I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Burry isn't a fool. He could be wrong, but he isn't a fool. A dividend cut is going to cause a major selloff, and he and management will be scooping up cheapies.

Canadian sales numbers refute this so far. Similar to home brew beer, there is time and effort required to produce anything of a quality you might actually want to use. As an adjunct to trading the dude weed I also dipped a toe in to pick and shovel stocks specializing in grow lights and hydroponics. Scott's Miracle Grow did quite well during the weed bear markets. Unfortunately I only managed to get a small piece of the complete SMG bull run. Right now it looks like it's heading in to a significant pullback.

True and that's great. However there is another headwind from the Trump administration trying to blanket ban flavored e-cigs to protect the children. MO shares shrugged that news off today with a +1% close. This is partly because MO does not wholly own Juul (they have 35% stake) and clamp down on e-cigs is bullish for their much larger regular cigarette biz. I remain long on MO and plan to beef up that position on ex-div date coming up if it doesn't rally too hard in to it.
